looks a nothingburger unless he’s got some psyker level crit weapons, or the game would keep up with the mechanic itself

i remember when i used ghost on my laspistol, and even while i was locked in into some reaper’s head i would suffer from ranged damage regardless

if that was all crits it would be busted beyond belief. but you’re already ranged immune during the ranged ult. and havocs literally discourage you from using anything resembling a bullet spraying weapon so I dunno how impactful this will be in sweat territory.

Hive Scum also have Melee Immunity with just sliding even if you don’t build around Crit though.

Hopefully their severe(?) lack of toughness regen will balance it out.

Wouldn’t call it a severe lack, they have a better version of ogryns talent with far better weapons for it. The other talent that regens 10% per second so long as your toughness doesn’t break completely is also pretty significant.

Seems to also have nearly 200 toughness total (I think it was 195 but I might’ve misread it on a low res stream) which goes a long way towards making it tanky

The streamer I watched felt it was low but I agree, toughness on hit doesn’t sound so bad with fast light weapons like shiv.

We’ll know for sure in a few days.

I think it does lack DR a lot which I think is the more likely punishing factor. Compared to new arbites players (with true grit too), hive scum players are gonna get overheaded and die a lot, which creates a skill floor.

I think the performance ceiling on this class will be insane though, the infinite ammo will make em compete with psyker staves

Good! Not dodging should be punished.

After almost a decade they still manage to surprise me. It’s all so tiresome.

With how low HP and Toughness the Hive Scum has, we’ll have to see just how much players it will actually save. I personally think a lot of players won’t be able to master this class unlike the Arbites, because the Lex-fan had tankiness. This class has dmg but low health which makes it very easy to die if you’re not careful, and I think for the next following weeks after release, a bunch of players will not be careful and die on Auric or even Damnation.

But again, we’ll all just have to wait and see how the class plays once we finally get our hands on it

According to the PC Gamer article, even with this, some of the skills have still been nerfed.

I can see it now. With many Arbites/Ogryn players being too used to stagger and instant toughness regain. We are going to see struggles with this class once they switch over with more focus on evasion than brute force.

Only 1 passive skill node for toughness regain on attack, relying on standing in one spot for stim AOE for toughness regen and no toughness regen when moving around. Whilst Arbites/Ogryn toughness regain on the fly moving using 5-6 sources of nodes of melee interactions that stack in parallel, hit, kill, stagger, hit 3, dog etc

With all his magic stims. Not one for health

Probably lucky this class has needle gun to bleed a Crusher in 3-4 secs with 4-5 ranged hits, but unlucky ammo capacity is like 70. Ammo thirsting to overcome.

No DS either.

Going to be interesting! Looking forward to giving a go.

Yeah now that I looked at the class more I really agree they’re probably going to eat dirt a lot. However:

They have functionally infinite ammo with one talent

As an ogryn main that’s why I have always occasionally taken exe stance vet for a ride every now and then to make sure I’m not getting complacent, good thing with playing ogryn though is that the lower amounts of I-frames on dodge forces you to learn timing.

It’s funny how VT2 has this talent for the “ranged glass Cannon class” but with way harsher requirements

Ammo must be empty, and thus the kill needs to be made with a melee

@FatsharkJulia

Don’t know if this is the finalized talent but this feels backwards

Needs to read: Max stacks of Dependency increased to 4, but duration reduced to 60s

Edit: I’m in the wrong thread, wee

just use this talent and 1 in 4 of your ranged attacks will crit, combined with the dual SMG that shoots insanely fast and has 900 ammo and you can literally just be invincible while using this thing

I remember there was a thread about Vet with ammo. That he needed more sources of ammo. But that’s because people don’t share in quickplay.

Some people wanted regen ammo, or ammo replenished on kill of elite only as rewards for priority targets and not trash mobs. It was actually a suggestion on it.

So they gave it to Hive instead I see!!

Well we do love to slide anyway…

Yep, it’s interesting commentary on game design and DLC content to see that Veteran used to have

  • Desperado stance (Exec stance used to have very functionally comparable buffs and reloaded your gun)
  • Infinite ammo (old survivalist)
  • Extremely viable autopistol gameplay

All of which got removed. They got removed because it’s bad game design. But it’s fine for a DLC class to have it because that one costs 12$. If people pay 12$ for it, then it’s not bad game design anymore and can be in the game.

This is what I call a lack of integrity, greed over principles.
