Gamereactor confusion: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's Class Overhaul: Making up for past missteps

Unsure if I’d say that the design of the latrine shovel is fine, but guess we’ll just disagree on that. I’ll wait for the skill tree update and balance pass on the enemies before commenting on the reduction on damage on blessings, I do however hope that they will do a balance pass on the less useful blessings as to help the weapons that does not have the “meta” blessings.

I think there is no error. It’s just that zealot and veteran subclasses seem to perform similar roles, at the very least when described in text. :person_shrugging:

I can see why they’re reducing blessing damage, tbh. They want this skill tree to be more impactful than weapon rolls because they recognize that they severely messed up with the way they generate weapons.

Honestly i’m expecting an equipment overhaul at some point. I don’t think they’d downplay blessings otherwise.

Sorry, the part about reducing damage on blessings was in response to what Ralendil said. Fatshark only mentioned that they’ve done a balance pass on enemies, unsure if this will be accompanied by balance changes to weapons… I hope they will, but as of yet no information has been given about it.

I don’t think there will be a balance pass on blessings and weapons… And that’s sad considering how unbalanced things are.

This was the part I was talking about. When the patch hits and we’ll see how the overall game is in terms of difficulty, there could very well be a balance pass needed on blessings, and as such, yes I do agree that maybe the damage given by certain blessings needs to be looked at. But I’ll say it again, there was no mention that there would be a balance pass on weapons/blessings in the interview.

No word on it, sadly, so I’m not going to get my hopes up.

Poor guy, you’re trying to figure out why the interview and text don’t match, why the two classes mentioned seem to have different information and whether its an error or not, and everyone else just starts yammering on about the update in general.

For what its worth, I get the sense that the interviewer was simply provided guidelines on what information about which classes to include in the article accompanying the video, hence the additional veteran info.

Thankfully I got some information from Catfish. The classes are correct and both Vet and Zealot are gonna have a stealth vlass.

I’ll post a screenshot later

Things promised, things due

Question 3 being: Is the Gamereactors text accurate ? I’m still very sceptical due to the Interview and text difference.

Question being: does that mean Vets won’t get a stealth class?

So both archetypes will have a stealth class. Tbh I’m not really interested in the Stealth Veteran, as anything I imagine is quite similar to what the Sharpshooter does already atm.

Would have preferred a Outcast engineer like class for it

I think ogryn gunlugger probably will be similar to Bardin engineer at some point. And for vet they might mix sharpshooter feats with new ones, so squad leader - WHC alike, sharpshooter will receive more feats and be more like hunter/ranger, and third one probably will be some kind of demolisher/heavy - nades, bolter/plasma specialization.

From what we know the Gunlugger get a ranged stance, which buff ranged weapon reload and rof, not really a dedicated weapon as ability.

Yes, but kinda the same idea - you press a button and go into heavy dakka mode. Maybe ogryn will get a new gun, that synergised with gunlugger especially good.

Rippahaaaa!!!

DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA

Oh myyyyy gooood!!!
A stealth part for zealot… I think that I will like that.

Autocannon, heavy bolter, and multi-las are all obvious choices.

Lascannon, heavy plasma, multimelta, and grav cannon are a little more esoteric and more likely to get introduced down the line but definitely on my wish list.

Lol, come to think of it, in Only War a gun lugger with the right upgrades could carry a mortar and just shoot it from the hip. That’d be fun and in-line with the ogryn memes. Make it awkward and slow to switch to with low ammo, but then it just nukes the AoE. It’d be Darktide’s fatboy equivalent.

More importantly, what are the first two questions? Is the second about getting a comm-link this week?
If so, that’s a bummer. It’s been six weeks since the last and there were 6 weeks between that and the previous one. Looks like they might be stretching out to 8 week intervals. Which is kinda oof.

Seeing as we’re getting the Patch on the 4th, i would say Comm Link is gonna be on the 28th

Well, 9 week intervals then.

Hopefully they have something planned for the anniversary, at least, despite only being 8 weeks after the patch launch.

Posting in a quality thread. Thanks for all the effort, @Heretical_Cactus
And thanks for posting Discord screencaps. :3
