Game is super unstable since the 1.5.2 patch. Constant crashing can’t even play a single match. Latest drivers, resintalled windows, wiped my SSD. Initially was causing SSD write failures, that would freeze my PC and shut it down. After that I replaced my PSU and it was crashing with a DRAM flashing light, freezing then not booting with solid white VGA light on MB, I wiped my machine and reinstalled windows and now it crashes and freezes my machine without any sort of logs. Worked perfectly before 1.5.2. All other games on my PC run perfectly. What the is going on.
Usually in cases of unresponsiveness this may indicate a deeper system level issue. Though it does appear that you’ve already delved into this!
Firstly, please try a clean reinstallation of Darktide which involves deleting your AppData. This can usually resolve more complex issues and help to a rule out an issue with the game installation/settings itself:
Failing this, we’re unable to advise on Windows-related errors, but solutions in this article may be of help:
Since the update, I too have been crashing consistently. I would reach the splash screen, but would CTD upon pressing ‘space’, have done a clean re-install and now I can`t even reach that point, I CTD after pressing ‘play’.
It is consistent and repeatable and now at a level where I cannot play the game at all. I have tried clearing appdata, I have updated my graphics drivers, I have verified my game files 3+times.
It was fine before patch 1.5.2, and every other game is fine. Any resolutions?
@Skoknor sorry to hear that. Can you please provide a crash report or your most recent console log and launcher log so I can take a look under the hood?
Admittedly I’m a little stumped - a couple of the logs are cut off and the root cause isn’t clear
I’ve queried this with the development team and I’ll get back to you as soon as I receive a response. Due to the time of day now, it’s likely to be tomorrow. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.
Hi @Skoknor, we’ve identified that your crashing with the Exit Code 0x00000003. It isn’t a common error code and looking it up has returned some vague information and possibilities.
Firstly, do you use a VPN? If so, please try disabling this. If not, then I would recommend to try switching to a mobile connection temporarily (if possible) as this can help isolate the issue. If you’re able to launch successfully, then it can indicate a network issue.
Otherwise, you can look at EAC and possible conflicts with external applications e.g. Anti-Virus. You can try the following -
Repair Easy Anti-Cheat:
Navigate to: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\installers\EasyAntiCheat
Run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup installer and proceed as instructed
Ensure you have appropriate Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions in place for both Vermintide 2 and Easy Anti-Cheat. You’ll need to add the following exceptions:
vermintide2.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
vermintide2_dx12.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries_dx12
EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat
Lastly, you can perform a ‘Selective Startup’, which disables background applications:
Press the Windows key
Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
Reboot your PC
If the issue no longer occurs after having performed the Selective Startup, try re-introducing your programs one-by-one to determine which is the culprit.
Please let me know if you have any success with these!
