Falchion: Yeah the Crit chance is probably a step too far and needs to be toned down lol

Repeater pistol: we’re still toying around with how to get it to a sweet spot

Very much so appreciate the feedback

So :

  • The mace definitely feels more powerful. But I think I have an issue with the moveset rather than the power.
  • The 1H axe, is interesting, more speed feels definitely better. But as it synergize with WHC passive a bit too weel, I think a little nerf to either crit or cleave could be done.
  • Falchion is probably criting a bit too much as well. Very nice changes overall.
  • Volley Crossbow do seems to replace crossbow a bit too well, so I would nerf a bit the cleave on it. The rest is great.
  • The Bardin’s shield + axe felt weird. Didn’t read the changes beforehand, but the whole thing did felt slower than usual Ă´o (except for the time to charge heavy). So I don’t know if there’s an issue on my end.

seems like u got lost, decide what they do

what

He says to choose if you want them at the front (as a frontline) or not (obstructing your shots)

Sure, the mod is not perfect, indeed there are more patch notes… But I don’t see the “intention” or the risk to make every weapon a jack of all trades… Anyway, for example, about Fire Pistols, I agree with you… There would be more pertinent buff than dodge range.

I don’t want to derail this, but how does that makes sense? I mean, yeah obviously I want them to actually frontline for me, that’s kind of what I was complaining about. The problem is that they do both, they obstruct my shots by standing right in front of me, while at the same time standing right next to me and not frontlining for me (it’s not a frontline if the horde is within striking distance of me).

Does it need a buff to begin with?

I think it was just a light joke =p

It’s not a trash weapon, but I can’t find a properly niche… They could generate less heat on light attacks, in order to be used for a faster pacing (wich is very slow, if you are using a shield)… Or dunno, less spread? In order to make them more useful vs specials (the damage vs armors is too low, they could not steal Crossbow/Handgun’s niche).

I’m confused at what niche the drake pistol chang removed. Could you explain further?

The beam shotgun change feels good, not op and now that I compare to official I know why I dont use it. Doing this puts it close to where it should be i think, the difference is 9 vs 15 for overheat if anyone is curious.

Tested bardin axe and pick and these changes mack them much more viable but I’d say the axe feels good and the pick seems weak with overheads compared to kruber x sword when it should be much better.

Sienna mace feels better and a lot more viable.

Still think something needs improving on regular sword to make anyone pick it over fire sword, make light attack 3 do burn or tank bc it’s an overhead and stagger more.

Great work

The Falchion changes got me most hyped after reading them. It did deliver far more than what I had even dared to dream. Might be the only overturned one I tested so far.

Halberd is just bloody amazing. The second added L1 is god sent.

Mace & Sword heavy buff is also more than called for. Makes it actually possible to kill CWs in less than a decade. The appropriate damage and stagger values to light attack are a nice gimmick, but I still dont see a reason to ever light attack instead of push or charge. Not that that is something bad.

1h Sword feels hardly different.

Handgun is quite okay with the reduced reload speed. Plays like a Crossbow with better base damage. Going the more cleave value route would be nice to test. Would make them more distinct from each other aswell.

All in all I am very pleased with the rebalance so far. Lets hope FS seeing that all this work is greatly appreaciated and comes to the conclusion its about bloody time for a new weapon rebalance.

Bro what are you on? It’s still a way worse special/elite slayer. You could honestly buff its cleave even more and it still wouldn’t be overturned.

I’m sorry I’m a bit defensive of my precious volleybow because it’s been the most overlooked weapon by FS for the longest time. I literally never see it in QP (and I mean literally not once in at least the last year). So when I see it get a 1 second reload reduction and barely enough cleave to have any impact on a hordes at all and somehow people are calling that overtuned, it makes me feel like y’all actually don’t want people to have fun.

The volley bow has been so trash useless for so long, please please please can we all just get behind these tiny tiny buffs so it can have some chance at actually getting used.

Will try to explain :
Thematically wise, drakefire drawback (as they have infinite ammo) are the poor range, poor precision, and the heat management. Obviously, reducing the “heat” issue, is actually equivalent to reduce the “heat management” therefore making the weapon less specific.
We could also say kinda the same about the lack of dodge, which is kinda explained by the fact that it’s a mechanical thing, not easy to use, and for ironbreaker, which is not the best career when it comes to moving.
This is not “gameplay” related, but more “thematically” related.
If some others changes were made to up the weapon (if it’s needed) but keeping the downsides that are thematic to it, it would be great to keep it as a “unique” weapon.

You should really try the mod yourself. Do not worry, I still want the weapon to be of actual use on the current game.

I agree with the drawbacks of the weapon. However, -15% dodge is a little silly and actually created some weird interactions with having negative dodge count. As for the overheat issues, they still exist, it was just too bad before. Drakefire pistols without the buffs were significantly underperforming in cata. If you’re playing on Legend, they may be too strong now, which is also good to know.

I’m playing in Cata. It was just to point that some weapons could be upped by others means (I think damage for example or dot, or other thing) rather than adding mobility or speed. But I did read your post about weapons profiles which make it difficult.

The volley crossbow is so amazing now. It went from being a complete garbage weapon to an amazingly fun one, offering a unique playstyle that Saltzpyre didn’t have before. With BH you have good horde clear, great ammo sustain and overall great versatility when dealing with everything, countered by its long reload time and lower capability to deal with specials.

And you know what’s amazing too? It is literally viable on all 3 Saltzpyre careers. BH naturally is the best fit for the weapon, which actually let’s you use other talents on him as well, making it even more fun. Zealot can use it with his Smite talent (again, another example of how this weapon buff creates new builds and playstyles), and WHC, with his 30% larger ammo pool talent, let’s him get 3 ammo per crit, which is a huge game changer and is amazing synergy, which once again let’s you pick some of the more underused talents.
The weapon literally goes from being complete garbage, to viable on all 3 careers, while also making use of less conventional talents and creating entire new playstyles and giving a weapon in Saltzpyres’ arsenal that fulfilled a niche he didn’t have before. It’s genuinely so amazing (I wonder who suggested those changes uwu)

But, I do think that it should legitimately lose some cleave power, going from 150% boost to 100%, cause right now it is a little bit too powerful, and replaces crossbow by just a little bit. Otherwise, the weapon is just perfect. (it also makes sense, since the bolts are less powerful on volley crossbow, so they would naturally have less velocity and less cleave)
