I started on Sedition and worked my way up, ending on Heresy games to finish him off
I wanted to act as if I didnt have access to the resources from my Zealot. Once I “found” a weapon I was comfortable with it was childs-play tbh. It took 16 hours. I suspect a total noob would take 24 hours, accounting for finding a weapon they like and learning to “git gud”.
This is mostly in response to this quote from @psyk and @Durandal94:
So I had the idea in my head to try for myself with a fresh Ogryn, and the other week I finally got round to it.
Needless to say @psyk and @Durandal94 I still disagree, leveling is not hell in this game, especially if you stick to Malice for your first 24 hours.
So this is kinda a PSA to any players out there going down constantly on Malice and thinking of heading up to Heresy. Dont
now do this 4 times (typical malice xp) for the average player. that would be roughly 20 hours each.
and god forbid you want to move up to heresy or above because the game would match you would similar underlevelled players.
on my 6th char i had the unfortunate mistake of playing a heresy maelstrom which ended up being a 45 minute duo with another underlevelled person because the game just refused to give us anyone competent.
levelling is hell in this game and i will kill on this hill
Why do this 4 times? After the first time youve actually got the resources to upgrade weapons straight away. 20 hours per character also isnt that bad.
Also, Iv done it 6 times, 4 characters on the PC and 2 on the PS5. Iv played over 1k hours so far and Iv deffo not spent 120 of them leveling up these 6.
I think youre just being impatient and you want your fully baked cookie before its out the oven and cooled down.
It couldnt hurt, but I honestly dont think its needed.
For me, leveling a char 1-30 took ~2-3 weeks when playing ~2 hours a night for 4-5 nights a week, so ~20ish hours sounds about right per character.
For the first character, it was fine. For subsequent classes it was annoying and a bit of a disincentive to trying them out until I just forced myself to. That said, it’s far from the worst leveling experience, and doesn’t feel much different to say, Deep Rock Galactic.
Also, definitely stuck to Malice for most of the leveling experience on all characters, only moving up to Heresy once I got into mid 20’s. That said I also never play with all randos, I only ever play with at least one other person I know in the party, so I can’t say how that affects things.
By the way I highly recommend the exponential response curve with response curve strength set 100 % it makes fine adjustments much easier and allows you to crank up the stick sensitivity.
I think thats what I set it to after a while but by part 4 iirc I set it back to linear again and turned down the sensitivity for ranged non-ads. I was really struggling at times to get my sticks to feel natural, wheras on the PC they feel mostly great! I can spin in the air and hit most things I want to. On the PS5 they felt all wrong.
I will give those settings a go tomoro thanks
I tried mine today and they were better than what i had but something still feels off compared to PC.
Its possible the framerate is messing with me, Im so used to having a stable 90 (when not streaming that is) so going back to… whatever the PS5 tries to manage even on 720p gives me eye strain.
Gotta say, the PS5 really struggles with Darktide. Im not spending ÂŁ700 on a PS5pro either.
I have to admit, Iv yet to play Ragnarok! I think Iv only played the original GoW2 on the PS2. Ragnarok looks brilliant tho.
