Clown team leading a clown game in a clown world.
I see these events as jokes.
I’m glad most people dont share that opinion. Low effort recycled content is lame
By these standards, Chaos Wastes wasn’t much more than low effort recycled content either. Same enemies, same weapons, a handful of modifiers, some pretty unbalanced buffs. Weren’t almost all of the level bits from existing levels? Nevermind the UI and code and all of that, as it clearly doesn’t matter.
I’m not saying Mortis is as complex as Chaos Wastes, but they’re superficially built “from existing assets” if you ignore everything that goes into creating a new gameplay mode with a distinct loop.
you just admitted your own argument is nonsensical yourself so there you go. Chaos wastes was way more high effort with way more unique content compared to mortis tech demo. Was way more full of cool new stuff
No, I’m arguing that just because you can identify various bits and pieces of something as being made of existing assets doesn’t mean the entire thing didn’t require substantial effort, which Mortis definitely did.
Nah Mortis Trials is low effort dog turds
mortis trials are like 2 end event areas from chaos wastes. for those who actually played that game there were 11 maps in chaos wastes, which were like 1/2-3/4 the length of base game maps.
Am I mistaken in remembering that many of the levels were assembled from existing level chunks? It’s been a while.
It’s not even only just the maps either. Chaos wastes does poop on Mortis Turds map wise of course but it also has an actual fleshed out roguelike system for modifier selection, shops and gambling and an economy, thought out risk vs reward when it comes to boons and random weapons, and even had compelling difficulty from the get go, not just on the very last horde wave.
It had all of those things from the beginning. Mortis trials will get minor changes at best that change nothing about how it’s fundamentally a low effort thrown together shitmode.
There can never be a time when more money is bad, yet, fat shark seems to think so.
Yea, there’s more to it, but that wasn’t my point. I just reject the opinion that there wasn’t considerable effort put into Mortis and that, because there are some reused assets, it’s low effort.
I dunno man I’m sure someone had to write the code and assemble the maps and come up with a concept. I’m sure it took “effort” but it’s the difference between phoning it in and delivering some nonsense that doesn’t flow and doesn’t provide much entertainment value vs actually designing something nice and coming up with unique maps and modifiers and boons and systems for it.
So while I’m sure it took a little bit of effort it’s completely out of scale compared to what an actually good gamemode like Chaos Wastes took.
It’s objectively lacking many things, including even stuff like character banter. So your characters are in a simulation and don’t acknowledge it in any way whatsoever. In fact they never talk at all other than callouts. How is this anything but sad and lovelessly slapped togehter?
I think Mortis flows pretty well, and there are definitely unique boons and such. It’s smaller in scope than Chaos Wastes, but I don’t think that’s entirely a bad thing.
It reminds me of the Boss Rush mode from Remnant 2 in many ways. Smaller in scope than the much-loved Survival mode in R1, but still tapping into some of the same things that made Survival great while trying out a new approach. I didn’t think that was phoned in either.
I expect we’ll see Mortis expanded/improved. And I do hope we’ll get a new reimagining of Chaos Wastes at some point.
Dude i have thousands of hours in darktide and i have only ever given them the $40 I spent on the game so im the wrong one to be asking about that. Im also not looking at fatsharks financial statements so obviously I have no clue. Im not really under the asdumption were gonna look up in 12 months and the servers are shut down i mean the games not going anywhere. I think the reality of the situation is its going to be a very long time until this game is even more fleshed out like 2-3 years and who knows if well ever get a new character. I personally dont care because this game is going to be a game i come back to for a long time so im not concerned with player counts. Come September im going to be grinding borderlands 4 and I will probably spend the next few years bouncing between this game and that game so im gonna be set regardless. I just desperately need something to play when this games boring which is all the time currently. Most people who play build crafting games are casuals and come and go anyway most people dont stick around and min max and grind it comes with the territory and borderlands games follow the same cycles but none of that affects me in any way shape or form. I mean hell dude titanfall 2 is like 10 years old and never has more than like 6,000 people online at any given time on xbox and the servers are still online darktide will be fine.
People are buying cosmetics, and I value Frames as reward.
I’m not sure, but it feels like the current team behind Darktide is completely different from the original developers. the balance changes are nonsensical, the obvious issues with dueling swords are being ignored, and features like Havoc and the Party Finder are poorly implemented.
the Darktide i used to enjoy no longer exists, and I’ve pretty much stopped playing altogether. i have no idea where the game is headed anymore. honestly, I’m just hoping that the team led by Joakim - the one behind Vermintide 2, is secretly working on a true sequel to VT2.
But… they said they were open to potentially discuss the idea of balancing the dueling sword…
well, it’s just a possibility, it doesn’t mean it will definitely happen.
in the end, even though the CM said about a year ago that they would communicate with the players, looking back at their actions so far, all we’ve seen is that update info gets revealed just a few weeks in advance.
there’s been no real communication with the players, nor with the devs or the team.
so I’ve come to think it was just empty words after all.
We’re back to the usual ‘ignore our own forums’ stuff that characterized the pre-Strawhat era of CM stuff.
I fully expect Darktide to shamble along, ignoring all feedback or opportunities to improve things instead of trying to release half-baked ‘new things’ to satisfy a quarterly requirement, for at least another year or two before they effectively shutter development. VT2 at least seems to have people who care, Darktide doesn’t.
They realized that they can’t milk DT as much as VT2 and I don’t know why they decided to not repeat the DLC model but instead they allocated most of their HR to their new secret IP.
DT is on its barebone and will only receive new maps with minimal content while they add more bugs and ignore requests to fix the vanilla ones.
Fly you fools.
You are investing time and passion into a sinking ship.
