Don’t think I’ve had this much fun playing an out-of-nowhere event in a tide game in a while. You have absolutely delivered and made something new and interesting.
Here is our first (and successful) attempt. I didn’t like the objectives on this map, and not being able to return after clearing a section is a bit annoying. Well at least I’ve heard cousin Okri for the first time in my life : )
Gg.
Wasn’t expecting this much stuff from a random event either, but Okri and the prettiest dawi hold I’ve seen so far has me preaching. (REPEATABLE QUESTS, WHY DIDN’T I IMAGINE THIS BEFORE)
If what the devs implied about this being a new yearly event is true, I’m really excited to see this come back around later on
edit to add: grimnir’s rat launching project
Yeah, very enjoyable (provided the other players don’t want to kill all three hidden bosses in the run). All the leg work carrying the barrels around gets a bit tedious.
That being said, plenty of good fun *laughs in Shade*
EDIT: My first Cata run on this map too.
I’m seeing a lot of Engineer, Shade, Grail Knight, and Bounty Hunter. This event is like a silver coin generator.
Too bad right before the event I bought everything. I now have access to almost every frame you can get in the entire game. I’ve still got to finish the weaves, a few challenges for the new missions and DLC heroes.
Then, I’ve got to work at Fatshark to get the developer frame, become a sanctioned mod maker (hardest task of all these days), and become a streamer/influencer to get Triumphant Trailblazer. Oh, also, somehow go back in time and become a versus beta tester. I didn’t get in to the beta test.
Is there a guide somewhere out there on how to do that? When it dropped, some pubbies and I trudged around for 2 hours and managed to kill exactly one of them, and the completionist in me wants those 225 lohnerbux.
I haven’t seen one yet, but I’ll give you a quick rundown here, I can grab some screenshots later.
EDIT: Piccies now included.
EDIT 2: More pics of locations.
First 3 barrels:
Just after your first troll fight, there’s three barrels in the halls just before the dropdown point for your second Troll fight (two trolls at once). Sometimes the third barrel will actually spawn in that room right by the level that summons two trolls.
If Barrel number 3 isn’t in the location above, then it will spawn here:
Water pump:
I personally go for the water pump first, you can leave one of the three barrels in the main area as you keep coming back round to it. Take two with you dropping them every now and again to kill hordes, SV and gunners/fire throwers. After the causeway with 2 x SV on it and one gunner you can use the two barrels on the blocked off areas on your left, just after the short stairs.
Cog:
I personally go for the cog area next, taking the one barrel you have with you. Deal with all the Gutter runners Blight stormers and leeches first. There’s a dead Dwarf with a key on him just by one of the jumping puzzles down by the pool of water. Make sure you grab it.
If you haven’t activated the water pump he’ll spawn here.
Green line is the path you take with the barrels and also the WORST pathing ever drawn.
If you have activated the water pump then he’ll be on the rocks here.
Pathway to the Troll boss in this section is a jumping puzzle shown below.
Next activate the lever under the causeway, it’ll send an elevator uptop which has another barrel in it. Take both barrels and complete the jumping puzzle on the far left (far left as you enter the area from up top).
Lever is right down the bottom (not really visible in this image), activate it to send the elevator up and get another barrel.
Last area:
You shouldn’t have any barrels left now, but not to worry as you enter the area kill the rattling gunner first, make your way across the first bit, but rather than go right and up the stairs, jump on the suspended platform and across to a thin rocky slope, follow it round to the left and you have a breakable chain, this will drop the drawbridge.
Double back on yourself and you have another elevator, activate it so it goes up and you have another barrel.
With the drawbridge now down on the causeway (you’d normally head left along the causeway), go right on the bit you’ve opened up. You have a similar puzzle to the getting the second grim on Athel Yenlui, aim just above the highlight area for the barrel and you’ll get it.
You still need one barrel now, so head to the exit like you would normally, but this time there’s a hidden door just on the right (this is why you got the key off the dead Dwarf), it opens to a small stairway which has an ammo crate and two bombs at the bottom (+ the last barrel). Grab the barrel and headback to the drawbridge and across it.
There’s an opening on the right one you’ve gone across it, head there and use the last barrel to get to the last Troll boss.
I’ll grab some screenshots later to help with this wall of text, but it’s possible to access and kill all three troll bosses in one run.
Updated my post with screenshots, it should make more sense now.
I won’t lie, I was under the impression that you had to kill all the trolls in one go for some reason. Good to know that you don’t have to, though.
Still, this is a great guide and very helpful. Thanks a lot!
No problem, hope it helps.
Imagine if they put half of their VT2 passion into DT.
What a great level, what a shame it’s an event
