Expeditions should appeal into the power fantasy Casuals want

Title

I think Expeditions were obviously created with the idea of bringing players from other games, and honestly that’s valid

The reason why it has failed many people, it’s because there’s nothing to look forward on it

We need to give Tech Remnants something to be used for

Fatshark, you could pretty much have an exclusive separate expeditions progression (that will only be available to use on expeditions), things like:

  • Perfect roll weapons (100% all)
  • New unique blessings for weapons (kinda OP on purpose)
  • Allow people to equip a Major Indulgence from Mortis Trials
  • Starting items (medicrate, ammo pack, a specific stimm, even Expedition items)
  • Other benefits for your characters
  • (For the Tryhards that want to get even more) Allow people to equip boosters for salvage and tech remnants numbers to find in a Game, at the cost of not being able to equip indulgences or other OP things from previous points

And the reason these would be fine, are simply because they would be contained inside Expeditions alone

From there you can spice up Expeditions even more, add higher difficulties, more enemies, at this point if the suggestions I made were done, you could even add Havoc difficulty on Expeditions and it would still be perfectly viable for quickplay/casual play since the Rejects would be mega OP from all previous points

Did I mention that all of this would be contained only for expeditions? Because this means the remaining aspects of the game would not devolve into powercreep, which is the main reason why I want Expeditions to be this kind of Casual Paradise

Ehi! You want Chaos Wastes at home? We don’t even do THAT here at Fatshark.

I also felt that tech remenants could’ve been a way to upgrade what items you could get from the shop, unlocking new things or adding more charges to items as you progress along the way. You’ve pointed out a few valid choice that tech remenants could be used for.

Fatshark have the chance for more strange items to be released in this mode without it affecting anything else. Perhaps a way to revive people for a short period of time after they’ve died, maybe a shield similar to what the captains have, night vision goggles (if night time missions ever becomes even darker then what they currently are) or auspex upgrades that lets you see salvage on it and so on. Some of these could even be season upgrades that you have available for any mission from the start of it, as long as you’ve unlocked them for the current expeditions rotation.

I think that some part of it might’ve been because that the game mode itself became “solved” by rushing through it, trying to go as fast as possible. Can’t speak for anyone else but myself here, but I think that the layout with to many different points of interest might have been to much… Fatshark should’ve just focused on one main objective, that can branch off to the other locations depending on what choices you make at the first site. For example let’s say that the first objective is to locate a tank of nurgle goo, you can destroy it or try to capture it for further study and depending on how you go forward, the next “map” would then correspond with which ever choice you made and so on until you get to the finale where the capture choice might have you fight of a horde as you try to get the objective to the extraction point and the destroy choice would have you fight an admonition captain (with some upgrades or buffs to make it a hard fight) before you could leave.

This all sounds cool until you realize that Expeditions are timer locked and there is not point in such progression because you couldn’t stay for long.

aint a garden fan but understand the “bigger idea” behind this.

but could we please put the bag of sugar ant-lure into a bigger mortis?

for all its flaws, expeditions is a nice breath of fresh air and under the right circumstances gives more dopamine than auric maelstrom while “almost” not put at the whim of team composition.

almost as in no party finder crap but one dude going places alone can f-up a match easily.

this issue fixed it can very well become maelstrom plus without havoc rainbow terror.

if there’s the tiniest chance this could work I’d rather not have it become the

(great series by the way, they don’t make em like they used to)

For me Expeditions aren’t leveraging the strongest part of Tide offering which is intense combat. There is too little of it. I cannot be bothered with the initial snoozefest to discover whatever that changes on different maps.

And so does Helldivers 2

I really don’t see your point

HD2 missions are 40 min, DT is 20

I’m confused on why would this be an issue if progress within expeditions itself is added

If timer for missions is at least doubled then all good

Not exactly answering my question bleh

I mean if the mission remain being mega short, then I don’t see the point in progression because most people just run past enemies anyway.

Helldivers 2 has big maps with big bases and objectives, Expeditions are just run around and collect scrap. If DT missions would last 40+ minutes per map then it would be great to have such progression.

To be fair to expeditions, that’s a you problem. Same as it is for everyone that comes in here complaining about it being boring then admitting they avoid combat.

if you skip stuff and don’t get the rad-meds maybe.

then again had matches past the hour mark and that didn’t feel boring :man_shrugging:

in fact I didn’t realize an hour passing

ok, I wasnt aware of that, couldn’t force myself to play it after I unlocked 3 maps

There’s also the double time zone where you get 30 minutes at the start and 10 minutes back from sanctuaries, with the rad stim potentially spawning as well (but its only 5 minutes still). A lot of these critiques could be solved interacting with it more instead of demanding it changed…sort of like asking for it to be overhauled into CW. Which one, anyway? The launch CW that was indeed casual fantasy, or the rebalanced one with tons of jank and far less interesting boons? Where you can’t even see grudge marked monsters (the original ‘big thing’ of the mode lol) 60% of the time, let alone the one you need for an assignment? Because that mode got massively, massively changed like 6 months in. We didn’t even get to enjoy it WITH power creep and a nerfed veggietales elf.

Personally I think people who want ‘challenge’ could get it without playing on sheep-eye FoV with mods telling them where not to be before enemies attack and hinting where enemies are…but I don’t go preaching about it or making threads saying ‘this is how Havoc should be’. I think yeah that defeats the accomplishment, its like scanning a coloring sheet and using the paint bucket tool to fill it in. Hooray you did it. I like Expeditions for providing something without the annoying downtimes of Auric missions (I hate waiting for that email to send) and getting to play an interesting Darktide without making sure my mods appreciate Havoc. Oh and then the party finder…
