Steam wouldn’t download the game, so I downloaded it from an external source and verified the integrity in Steam—it passed validation. I played for an hour, but the next day it started crashing with this error.

Hi kreativcat, external downloads are likely to produce issues, and Darktide will not remain up to date. It’s important to resolve the underlying issue and make sure all downloads are coming from the Steam client.

With that in mind, please uninstall Darktide and all cached data from the external download. Then, please use the instructions here:

Failing that, we recommend contacting Steam Support who will be able to look in to any potential issues with the Steam client.
