Regardless of the layout of the arena enemies can run through all the doors and hit you through any of them. I managed to get a screenshot of a skaven rat running through 1 of the closed doors during the event.
Another reason to fix the doors is because you have been able to get past them on any class since day 1 of chaos wastes.
