Enemies still able to shoot through smoke grenade area

on several occasions when trying to protect me or my teammates from enemy fire using smoke grenades, a small ammount of enemies were still able to shoot through the smoke screen unhindered

Gunners (as in the elites) will continue shooting at the last known position of their target when smoke is placed. If this is all that happened, then it’s working as intended. If they were able to track you through the smoke, now that would be a bug.
