So I absolutely adore the twin pistoleros, like the idea and sound effects are amazing, they sound chonky and absolutely mad.
However, performance-wise, they leave a bit to be desired on the special ability front.
So what does the special ability do, to those uninitiated (At least by what I’m estimating it does?) It shrinks your crosshairs and slightly increases weakspot damage (I estimate by about 10-15%). Sounds nice, right? Well… the spin animation is a bit too long. In the time it takes to pop off this single shot, you could put 2-4 bullets down range for a much higher payout in terms of damage (Especially since a certain blessing already shrinks the crosshair to an almost sniper level amount)
Now the long windup wouldn’t be bad if the payout in damage increase was better. I’m fine with the damage increase being only on weakspots, but realistically this damage increase should be a 50% weakspot damage increase. So many enemies on Damnation, Havoc, Auric, whatever will survive the spin shot with a sliver of health remaining, even with a fully devoted build. The breakpoint just is out of reach. An increase to the amount of weakspot damage the spin does feels very warranted because it does still reward high skill play by nailing an accurate shot.
I’d also gladly trade off a bit of damage for higher penetration values on carapace armored enemies but thats a lil pet peeve of mine.
In Short, I think 2 Buffs NEED to happen for the dual berettas to really shine, at least on the special ability front. 1. Shorten the animation time but extend the time your crosshair is shrunk slightly. 2. Increase the weakspot damage this shot does by about 50%, so if your normal weakspot shot would do say… 400 damage, it now does 600 damage. This should put the dual pistol special shot over the breakpoint of quite a few enemies to make em worthwhile as a sidearm. Cause right now its not worth spinning these pistoleros except to look cool, or if you have ADHD and are using them as fidget spinners as you get from fight to fight lol.
