Higher chance at level 4 blessings? Anything? I just did one and I got one with level 3 and 2 blessings lol… Is it just for challenge, then? 'cause it sure is a challenge when you’re not in a group.
Technically yes. The higher the difficulty the higher the odds that the emperor’s gift is orange and of a higher total power… but I mean people only play it for the challenge.
The rewards are so pitiful, that 0,000002% higher chance of getting better rewards equal nothing. It’s just there for the challenge.
only the fun of it and getting used to the frenzy to the point where nothing else does it for me anymore. need …that… dopamine.
not once did a weapon at the end have any perk or blessing i wouldnt have gotten from melk earlier.
nor where there any combinations worth using right out of the box.
but when you crave that I II V E G nothing else will do
Citation needed that that is an actual number. We all hate how crap loot is and how rng dependent the game is but giving people intentionally wrong information is not acceptable.
This seems to apply to difficulty level, but does playing Auric Damnation actually provide better emperor’s gifts than regular Damnation?
At any rate, the most obvious/tangible reward for playing Auric is a big ordo payout, which is determined by the mission modifiers.
Sure, but are you actually getting more? I mean they take far longer on average than a normal damnation.
I have not played many auric missions because I play the game to kill things, not to be overly challenged when playing with 3 random players, I only have 3 friends that still play (the others have given up on this travesty) and one of them is entirely uninterested in anything more than normal heresy, the other plays but not that often and is more interested is quirky builds not suited to higher difficulty which leaves me with one that is up for higher difficulty.
We have played a grand total of 5 auric damnation missions together. All of them took 10-15 minutes more than it takes me to get through a normal maelstrom damnation with 3 randoms. Would a 4-man get through faster because of better team-comp, sure but that is hardly the majority of players.
Auric missions are there for greater challenge, not really to be more rewarding. I think this is a huge design flaw. You should get far better rewards for them, should get no lower than a 370 base stat weapon for one thing.
Theoretically, the top % of players should be able to clear Auric Maelstroms in record times only constrained by their skill, damage output and any anti-speedrunning mechanisms they’d need to work against.
except perhaps a nice C I VI
but would it then animate those playing through maelstrom if they dont enjoy anything beyond heresy?
they already do heresy with the gear they got, so they’d do heresy “better” with 550 weapons?
plus having a higher reward sends the wrong message to those not yet fit to perform in said difficulty and thus lead to more preventable wipes, thus having a less enjoyable experience overall
the best i got from playing auric maelstrom is a much more proficient way of controlling the game when it comes to get a complete feel of my character and weapon capabilities in split second decisions.
with that depth i enjoy darktide so much more than anything ive played in a looong time.
but to get to this point i spent hundreds of matches in lower difficulties to get a grasp for things to come.
hmm now that i got a taste of the new xix shovel you got a point there…
Yes. This new inspect feature has made me see that some people are going into heresy and damnation with weapons that have sub-50% damage. Those players would have an objectively easier time if they had 80% damage because they would one-shot things that were taking two or thre shots to kill.
This will always be a wrong way to look at rewarding players for beating higher difficulty but not giving players at lower difficulty the same rewards.
Good for you, I, on the other hand, want better loot, I can get better at the game by playing lower difficulties to the point where they are a easy then slowly working my way up. Tossing a kid that can’t swim into the water may help them learn to swim or they could nearly drown and gain a fear of water.
With how bad the crafting is in the game players playing higher difficulty deserve to be rewarded with weapons that cause them to have to engage with the crafting as little as possible.
that was literally my whole point as to NOT give better rewards in auric than the normal ones, so there wouldnt be a draft towards this difficulty based on a need of loot but a desire to perform on that level.
by all means make damnation more rewarding.
as for the drowning part, i did add my way through countless lower missions, so while im all for the toss in the water, make or break approach, out of respect for those other 3 people investing their time and energy, i made sure my game was up to snuff.
staying at one difficulty for to long might embed some bad habits later though for they, even if they feel boring , are a lot more forgiving in terms of decision making and the timeframe for it.
using 50% damage weapons voluntarily is a sign of not caring about equipment though, i get 330s with 70 dmg on a daily basis from brunts trash heap
Only bragging rights, but not on this forum because 90% can true solo maelstrom. (in words at least)
Naw I mean like not only are they low rolls, they are not even orange and bad, I have on multiple occasions seen people come in to heresy with blue weapons with all sub-60% rolls and struggle. Like, you can get some halfway decent stuff from the milk shop, certainly far better than some of the junk I have seen people using and struggling with.
I don’t say this out of elitism, I suck at the game, but good equipment and good grasp of core gameplay (target priority, dodging, sliding, etc) has allowed me to pretty comfortably play damnation and call heresy my “turn brain off” difficulty. that used to be malice for me.
To be clear, I think if crafting does not improve rewards on ALL difficulties need to be improved. You need to be given “usable” weapons as emperor’s gifts. I mea nthey are emperor’s gifts FFS fatshark! Why is the emperor giving me absolute garbage? I wish I had kept it to prove it but I once got a 3% damage purple from a damnation clear.
totally agree, fatshark should deal out parachutes before throwing people out the plane. give damnation rewards that prepares for auric, 100%
crafting itself is something i tend to forgive because the flow of the game is so fking awesome, like nothing i had since doom really.
before darktide i cared little for warhammer as a franchise, now i paint mcfarlane figures while listening to baldermort and former attenborough lore.
so i dont get my head around perks and blessings, like why not go with different calibres, bores, ammo, barrel length and such instead. wouldn’t even expect a change in 3d model of the gun to spare them the development time.
have an armory from the getgo and pick your stuff after each step up in difficulty.
once i got the perks and blessings that i “needed” the carrot on a stick became obsolete anyways. got my kickback, like my kickback, use my kickback simple as.
enjoyed decades of doom with 7 weapons and mostly super shotgun so it wont make me quit darktide having that one weapon i really enjoy at my disposal.
Both crafting and rewards should improve.
AuricT5 gives absolute crap 99% of the times.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you have even lower chance to get a good weapon stat roll than from brunt.
Stop forgiving it.

Auric is Fatsharks way of adding the extra difficulty that some players want without making the game harder for the rest.
Personally, while some extra difficulty is nice, I just don’t care for high intensity - it gets tedious after a half match.
Still, that extra difficulty is precisely a “challenge yourself” mode. It should be available, and it should not, in any way, feel mandatory to play it for the best rewards. Like how Fatshark actually did something sensible in later VT2 and raised the maximum item rating you could drop from lower difficulty.
Players should not feel the need to play something they are uncomfortable with because of shiny numbers. Sure, the numbers can be higher, but they shouldn’t be higher per time investment unless you can reliable speed through a map. Which some people can. More power to them.
like i suggested in another topic, make bosses drop “parts” that can be used to alter perks/blessings to your liking. reward in terms of gameplay and a way out of the lock impass.
in the meantime, those mcfarlane figures are pretty neat, plus you can 3d print them any weapon you like my ogryn mascot approves
