Do not fix Can Opener blessing bug!

Can Opener blessing is bugged right now it works not only for special atack but for shots too. And ripper gun now feels awesome! Don’t fix it, just tweak for max rending 1 or 2 (3 is rly OP) or tweak weapon stats. We can live without using bayonet atack.

Free rending is pretty dumb. It was already good before. Stab a crusher twice then shoot and you’ll kill it in under a mag. I think it was a lot cooler before.

Bolter gets free rending blessings tho. As in, it gets something similar to the Can Opener blessings, except it doesn’t have the ‘melee something first’ as a pre-requisite.

Bolter also has a lot less ammo and doesn’t mulch density like Ripper. Clearly Carapace being a bit of a weakness is part of the design of the weapon and just giving free rending with zero condition renders that design pointless.

I don’t really need to argue here because there’s like zero chance FS will leave this as is. How well ripper just mulches crushers currently is pretty silly, I would have thought that was apparent from using it even once.

Well it has more ammo after new patch, it’s not something impossible to change. Ripper gun also has no ADS like bolter, it is slower, brace fire mode takes a moment to be ready (except blue one, don’t remember mark). I’ve tested only t3 can opener and it is too strong as i said. Maybe t3 should be 1 rending, and t4 2 stacks, no t1 and t2, anyway it is all just about numbers. But i really like having alternative to explosive types of weapon, that can deal some dmg to carapace.

Ripper is my second favourite Ogryn ranged (first slot recently taken by Kickback). I run Ripper all the time. You can just bring Paul or Club or even Shovel if you’re worried about Crushers. Again though how can opener previously worked still let you kill Damn crushers in less than a mag, it was just a lot more interactive.

Sure you can, but it’s not dakka. The way it was before, well good against one roaming crusher, but not when it’s 3 of them mixed with bulwarks, ragers and horde.

I actually ran a Can Opener Ripper quite a bit before on my knifegryn (Mk 4 for tactical dropgryn). It wasn’t much of a big deal for me to punch a crusher, slice up his buddies while he’s dazed and then work him over with the Ripper in between bayonet stabs. The debuff is also applied to melee so Mk IV with +4 rending is almost like a combat axe for lights on carapace with that latest buff. It felt great, and a passable work around for my upside of demolishing everything else within smashin range. Game needs more builds like this.

Tbh i never seen someone utilising it on higher difficulties, even on roaming enemies, not even saying midst horde. This combo asks for too many conditions but gives not a lot for doing it. Well I also should say i rarely see ripper gun on t5 it was mostly GG and heavy stubber area, sometimes rumbler and kickback now after buff.

Yes great let’s dumb everything down as much as possible. God forbid the game has some skill expression.

It’s not what i said

You want to take a blessing with an interactive activation and make it passive.

Sounds like exactly what you’re saying to me.

Sometimes this is pretty hilarious, though.
The activation bugs on all blessings open beta was nice. I really liked those stun-bleed grenades and pushing people to death.

The difference is that combo is useless anyway in MY OPINION, it asking skills to utilize, but prize is low. As i said, ripper gun was a rare weapon on t5, and in MY EXPERIENCE i don’t remember someone was using such combo. Because such many-steps actions while interesting in design works bad in fast paced horde games, it is like from party-based rpg. It is my subjective opinion.

Yeah ripper guns have been rare to see in general because their ammo total is pretty ass. It’s less ass after the last patch but still pretty bad. Also with the item system the way it’s been it’s not really surprising you didn’t see this specific combo very often. In my experience can opener has always been recommended as a BiS blessing for Ripper. Also worth noting you can stab any enemy to get the rending bonus plus it stacks. You don’t even need to approach a crusher to make use of it (though it feels more satisfying when you do). Just stab any enemy near you once or twice then mag dump in the crusher’s general direction. I don’t think that is at all unreasonable to do in practice in fact I’m getting the strong impression you seriously tried using the blessing before this bug? Am I on the money here or not?

If it’s for sure funny and I’m happy it popped up because it’s been a good laugh. I just think it ought to go away again next patch.

Hehe, as fun as it may be, we don’t need another overtuned weapon like the Bolter.
