Disable Crossplay/ Solo Private games

Same and I’ll drop back down a level if I’m testing a new build I don’t think will be strong enough to cover all bases, or if I’m just playing like unholy excrement atm.

if someone offers advice its rather an incentive for them to defensively snap back despite the fact they are the ones fking up and the evidence is right in their faces

Can confirm through 99% of my in-game teaching interactions. Don’t matter how nice/gently you might phrase your advice, it’s near guaranteed to be met with defensive vitriol. State of modern gaming I guess.

Absolutely this, in VT there seemed to be much more of a willingness to learn and share tips’n’tricks.

In DT, especially after #13 crossplay, you’re basically told to go F yourself even if you nicely offer up some very basic advice (stuff they should have known), even if it’s as bare-bones basic as “there’s a med station right past this airlock, no need to deploy crates”.

aaaaaages ago i was the shark in the local quake 3 pond, until i wasnt :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

visiting ever further away lan parties i was bound to meet my match and boy was it an eye opener.

back in the day “mtw” and “schroet kommando” was pretty much the top of german quake players and luck would have it to meet one at a lan and the other online.

so in the best “keine Angst vor grossen Tieren” i threw myself at 'em…
and got my ass handed to me in a basket

hurt pride and all i thanked them very politely for the match and asked them afterwards why there was this huge gap.

ok, it aint rocket science to compare to paid professionals with trainers, sparring partners etc

still by asking i could take with me the most glaring issues, i would then work on relentlessly the rest of the year.

not that i ever was on their level with the means that i had back then, but it helped me past my plateau and left me with a broader range of strategy and better reflexes.

and honestly afterwards locally i was back to my cocky self, only better :squinting_face_with_tongue:

but seriously, a good pounding helps improve ones abilities, something current gamers seem to have forgotten in the age of “instant gratification” and “everyone’s special”

Is this a data point that console players are a(the) problem? I haven’t been a console player for a very long time. I know they have a general reputation, but no idea the truth to it. I also dropped DT after the beta and only came back after unlocked and loaded, so no pulse on the community shift.

@Index I feel you. I made my way back into FPS gaming via Titanfall 2. If I had turned tail after getting stomped by the no SBMM sweat lords, I’d have missed out on a very formative experience that still flavors my gaming tastes and ultimately lead me to Darktide. Instant gratification is a helluva drug.

Honestly, yes, it seems that way to me.

beat em ups and survival horror

(back when resident evil still was resident evil)

led me to tricking my ps1 with a dowel to let the cover open and play japanese imports, chipping a playstation 2, having a flip switch for us/jap on gamecube.

and basically that was the last console generation i actively used for gaming, ps3 already was mainly my blu ray player

(guess i had street figher and mortal kombat 9 and that was it)

NEVER in all those years from snes to ps3 would i have played a first person shooter on a console/controller for competitive/performing reasons.

i mean yeah, doom on 32x for shits and giggles, some stinkers like zero tolerance on genesis cause “shooter” but equal to a pc… you got to be kidding.

pc gaming was a matrox mistique (4mb) gpu with a diamond monster addon-gpu in 1996 at around 800DM (~600$ at the time i guess), all to play glquake at 640x480 and 30 fps.

what could a console have offered in comparison.

likewise if today my gpu alone costs 3x the price of a console in an overall 4500€ rig, you dont need to be einstein to figure the gap in performance.

i cant wrap my head around how people can accept fps dips below 60 on a regular basis and call it a pleasant experience, much less would i ever give up my 144fps at 240hz oled :face_with_tongue:

so over the years console and gaming went ever further apart, there simply wasnt the magic anymore like with playing splatterhouse 3 on genesis as a banned trophy game :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Not true at all. I que into those daily and they fill every time.

That’s good to hear

the problem is not so often having 1-2 unfit teammates.
it’s rather that one such guy can drag down the whole team. in the best case, he just consumes resources that are better spent elsewhere. in the worst case, he stays behind fighting poxwalkers, goes down in a bad place, and instead of having 3 people continuing as a group and picking him up later, you get the dreaded row of lemmings coming to the rescue and then needing to be rescued themselves.

the unfit teamate usually the DEDICATED ADEPT title. my friends laugh but the most combative over voice chat and playing zealot to run past a lot of the enemies. never dropping heal boxes cause their health is at 70 percent even though for the rest of the team is in need at a break point. willingly passing the med station for absolutely no reason. slur dropping when you ask them to work in coherance. almost res you but not finish so it looks like they are humping your corpse. missing 1 bullet grabbing the heavy ammo bag on a melee build person. there has been more but this game does encapsulate everything about gaming. Though teams made through discord are significantly better

Not at the expense of mine.

i dunno man the less enemies they can kill the more i can kill its kinda more fun with worse teammates

Yeah so much fun when they’re hovering up all resources and having to do the objectives by yourself.

so now these hypothetical bad teammates open boxes/and loot?

Med stations are pretty much unmissable.

in 2+ hours I have seen people double tap medstation about 5 times in auric. and again those bad teammates would most likely be too dead to use medicae

Not at all my experience. I see far too many players skip it when there is literally no reason not to heal. And I’m talking all flavors of true level numbers and not martyrdom builds. It hurt my brain for a while.

I could give a shite less how skilled or not someone is if they at least pretend to play with the team. Those folks are not the subject of my frustrations. I’ll take an underleveled 5 wound psyker going down constantly that sticks close and does objectives over selfish should-be servitors any day.

that’s a real funny way of saying “i should just lower the difficulty”
