remember, if only the game was actually lively or interesting, filled with things to learn and talk about
we wouldnt be talking about or at least we’d be able to put up with the gambling

yeah, i agree. i was gonna say, i have all my reds on VT2 with perks that I want and I still play the game to this day. It’s completely untrue that players will drop the game after getting their perfect weapon. I play VT2 because it’s fun to play with the weapon I want and to win Cataclysm games, I especially love Cataclysm CoE Chaos Waste. L4D2 doesn’t have gear to grind for, doesn’t have RNG to roll for, doesn’t have crafting system, and people still play it lol.
It’s as if the player’s goal isn’t to do brain numbing RNG gambling trash GRIND gameplay, but to WIN games on harder difficulty.
Grinding isn’t fun. In VT2, it was widely considered the most tedious part of the game. In a game like DT and VT2 the grind should be the actual game. Grind out missions to improve aim, situational awareness, map knowledge etc. It’s very replayable in that you the gameplay loop is fun and addicting.
The bogus rng systems just choke out buildcrafting and make an otherwise super fun game into a grind skinnerbox hoping for WOW 12 STARS SUPER RARE LOOT!!!
I’m confident they could completely axe the RNG for weapons and retain players regardless. Give me RNG for hats or something instead.
you think runescape people have fun while grinding?
no, that’s why my mining level is still 89 after 4 years
right, and its crazy to think it took u 4 years to realize it wasnt worth ur time anymore
RS got more content than Darktide u see, so other things kept me busy
exaaaaaactly
grinding, pain, depression, doesnt matter
fun content matters
I’m one of those people who won’t be easily enticed by new content, because I know i’d have to engage with the gambling system even more. It’s a negative feedback loop. Play game > pull the slot machine handles > be disappointed through no fault of my own. I’d rather play a game that doesn’t constantly leave me disappointed by pure random chance.
a shame that the content is locked behind poopoo crafting. I play mainly Damnation with friends, and you can definitely feel how shid your weapons are… makes the game unfun. yeah sure, more content is ALWAYS nice, but the crafting goes hand in hand with new content. they kind of mesh together in gameplay
we legit always say that the core gameplay is immaculate, of all the bad, it is the only thing praisable (aside from really well designed weapons), the gameplay is legit the content
but then we tear it down just because something technically doesnt go our way?
and when a middle ground is given, we doodoo on the solution more
now im not saying that the solution is perfect, clearly far from it, but how difficult is it to have a lil faith in the emperor
well thats why it would be easier to get and upgrade better weapons
but no one should expect it to be easier to get end game weapons when we dont even have end game loot
I dont think difficulty is scaring away your casual player, but rather, the lack of content, and the way FS has no respect for the player’s time (grind perks, grind blessing, grind weapon stat, grind to 30, etc)
Destiny 2 made grinding “casual friendly” by allowing a RNG free method of progression or you could be “hardcore gamer” and grind for days and hours. Both reach the same result. Except one is dad casual gamer friendly… a dude that works 40 hrs a week, got 3 kids to look after, got a wife, and errands to do, can hop on Destiny 2 real quick for 3 hours on a Sunday and reach the same results.
this isn’t a middle ground solution.
As I said… this is not the system I like… but I have learnt to adapt to the games.
I don’t think that they will remove locks cause it would force them to rewrite large parts of the game, if not everything around the missions.
The point is, do you want to continue to ask for something that you can see they won’t do, or do you want to improve your game? I opted to improve my game and that’s why I propose small improvements of the current system that could solve what is, for me, a problem.
But again, I don’t see what problem the “locks removal” partisans want to be addressed.
If it is getting the perfect weapon easily… well, I am afraid that they won’t find satisfaction.
Exactly the problems I mentioned… and they can find lot of answers (except content, here they just need to create it… when a new subclass?). Locks are not the only answer… and as they obviously won’t remove them, maybe players could think to what improvement they want for the crafting system, other than the locks removal.
all the power to ya
Middle Ground :
an area of compromise or possible agreement between two extreme positions, especially political ones.
I think middle ground perfectly describes this entire update
edit: keyword compromise
For most things, yes, they did some middle ground improvements. For the weapon crafting, it’s more like that game where you try to guess which cup the ball is under. There’s no comprimise; they just moved the cup around.
How is it like that game where you try to guess which cup the ball is under?
They deliberately changed is so it is easier and more flexible to change perks and blessings so its actually what you want to have.
Only difference is that ALL the locks werent removed, you guys are mad, and based on that you guys are not looking for a compromise.
Well hate to break it to ya, as you may already know, the locks will forever stay because its an integral part of both the crafting and looting system, and I dont think theyre revamping or as many of you want, overhauling the games core systems
edit: like ive said, we’re ALL at least a bit annoyed at the whole system but i hate to say it, the whole situation sucks and it sucks even more knowing that trying to completely remove the locks is a losing battle
the quicker people can realize that, the quicker people can learn to have fun while playing Darktide, or the quicker they can move on
Why can’t it be both?
