Am I the only one who thinks that being able to choose every perk and blessing as you wish on a weapon would just lead to it getting boring very quickly?
You would very soon have no more goals to work towards and get tired of playing the same missions over and over again, once again, with no rewards, because you already have exactly what you want?
What’s the fun in that?
I for one enjoy incentive, happiness doesn’t come from getting what you want, but rather by working towards it and seeing progress.
You’d think that Halo Infinite would serve serve as a cautionary tale about the peril of live services and might have been a sufficiently high profile demonstration of fail [‘‘failmonstration’’?] to make this point self-evident, but hey ho, right?
The entire thing is an RNG fest.
You can by definition not work towards it and do not really see any progress, if 99% of what you do, is trowing resources in the general direction of the trash can.
There is no grind towards a clear goal
You grind to roll the dice. And every time you roll, you do not get what you want (or maybe you do, and now you got exactly what you want… in an instant).
This is extremely tone deaf. You threw all the feedback right in the garbage, and the sheer arrogance when the game is already at a overwhelmingly negative review score is mind boggling.
Grinding of this level should stay in MMOs and JRPGs. I want to shoot zombies with friends, not marry myself to a game where I have to spend dozens of hours grinding to have a weapon that STARTS allowing me to have fun
How in the hell have you not gotten that we hate RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG
we have to find a weapon with a decent rating with around the stat weights we want and then one perk we definitely can use in our build and then on top of that a blessing we can use then roll the other blessing and other perk and hope we were lucky in the 100 weapons we have now reads notes oh yes slot machine pulled to pool from. NOW please explain to the community how this (allowing easier build experimenting)
Yeah could you imagine spending almost 2.5k hours on a game where you can freely roll whatever properties and traits you want on your equipment (and don’t have any arbitrary, anti-player restrictions), which you are also able to just make? Madness.
After 280h i still have not seen soulblaze on crit force sword. With new system it might be possible to fine one one day, but then i need to rng find a force sword with good rating, good perk and t3 or t4 shred OR crit on special kill blessing and then apply soulblaze blessing to it, to be finally able to try out a burn on crit build on psyker.
Why stick to the locking?
Plenty of nice changes, but the absurdly RNG infested crafting and gear acquisition is atrocious and has to go. Seriously. There’re so many games out there with better weapon customisation / crafting, why do you have to stick to that ungodemperorly mess that you have created?
Bricking item after item, because one of the billion systems that come together to make it rolled badly is a hard no.
Gradually improving and re-rolling items of your choice by pouring crafting materials into them, perhaps collecting stats and whatnots into a library (see e.g. Division 2) and then swapping them out with relative ease, preferably with no blocks ever placed, is a far superior option. Gathering a collection of all the good perks, blessings, etc. will still take time and it’s at least something one can look at and be semi proud of.
I find the system as it is now absolute garbage, I stopped playing at around 60 hours and haven’t been in the game yet this year.
Still, the one thing everyone complains about is lack of reward in the game and incentive to play, while at the same time wanting all incentive to just be dropped by immediately getting the best possible item in the game in a couple hours of effort, I dunno, I hear the complaints, but I wonder if people actually know what they’re asking for…
Please think about this. Let’s assume you can re-roll all perks and blessings like many are asking for.
For a SINGLE weapon you still need to:
(A) find a good base item;
(B) grind enough resources to upgrade it to max level (orange)
(C) Spend more crafting materials to unlock each perk slot and re-roll the ones you want
(D) Find at least TWO other items of the same type with the blessing at the level you want in order to extract those blessings.
(E) Pay more resources to apply the extracted blessing onto your chosen item.
That’s just for ONE item, with ONE set of desired properties. Maybe I want two different Force Swords to use in a different build? I have to do A-E all over again. Now multiply that by all of the weapons in the game.
Even under ideal circumstances it will STILL take a LONG time to upgrade everything.
More to the point however, it won’t be boring because we’ll be spending our time PLAYING and experimenting with different BUILDS. What’s boring is being trapped in a sub-optimal loop and grinding the same thing aimlessly over and over again.
This assumes they won’t be introducing or tweaking blessings in the future. If they do and you have already “re-blessed” a weapon with a blessing you want, then congrats. You now get to start all over and have to find a weapon with good base stats and then hope that you can get the perks you want AND the combination of blessings you want.
Like I said, make people jump through hoops to change the other perk/blessing with some tedious task or event, but at least give us the option.
Item acquisition and re-blessing mechanics sound like they will be good, but locking 1 perk and 1 blessing isn’t really what a lot of us were hoping for. Still way better than what we have at the moment.
@FatsharkCatfish any news on redoing the mission board? Is that part of any plan at all?
