I just did a map and we fought at least 3, could have been 4, I wasn’t paying too close attention because we were getting kicked in every time. Managed to finish the level, but that on top of the lights out modifier being stupid just made me want to finish it and leave asap.
Avoid it or have an Ogryn with a shield wake him up. He can tank it like no one else, although still gets chipped down slowly. But can hold him for a minute or so no problem.
did 2 times on lvl 3 and the 4 was one lvl 2
so maybe lvl 4 is too hard ?
I think you’re having a meltdown about an enemy you don’t understand yet.
No offense, but no one should ever be saying “just use an Ogryn with a shield”, because it’s bad enough that an Ogryn is forced to use it anyway if he wants to play harder difficulties, and worse that it would be forced for fighting mobs in random levels. Not everyone wants to use a shield, and telling Ogryn players that’s the only way they’ll cope is going to cause them to leave Ogryn… not that you did that, but just sayin’.
I expect the Daemonhost or the Shield will be patched so it not a guaranteed strat.
So having an opinion means having a meltdown…cool very valuable opinion
You’ve come on the forum to complain about an enemy you have fought twice in a grand total of one games. That seems excessive asking for a nerf when there is absolutely no way you can understand how it works.
In low level mission, Daemonhost is really OP.
There are too many Daemonhosts!
It’s not really L4D’s Witch, she was a pushover
That Demon isn’t a pushover
It’s super strong but it’s probably a bit soon to say it’s OP ?
There are some really strong tank builds out there, just people don’t run them or aren’t aware of them
What i don’t really like is seeing 3 of them in the same stage, kinda ruins the novelty
It’s quite alright to see yourself bleeding 2 times and realizing blades are sharp objects.
In similar fashion, Daemonhosts are obviously, even to the untrained eye, overtuned nonsense additions in their current form, almost as if some coder has a counter running in the background to be happy about the rising amount of newbs his great addition slaughtered.
And no, builds are not an argument, if some special build or class is required that makes it even worse. So what if psykers are amazing against it, if the game allows quickplay and puts 4 ogryns into a strike team, they NEED to be abale to run the mission without unreasonable amounts of headache, no discussion.
I haven’t fought it enough to form a solid opinion yet, but it did immediately strike me as fairly OP when I fought it on Heresy.
It seemed I could neither dodge it, nor block it, nor stagger it, it dropped me in about 3, maybe 5 seconds - I tried to create space but it teleported through the wall and did me a big murder. I was playing a flamer zealot, and I’m no slouch.
I did not have a chance to test the zealot grenade on it, though I doubt that would have been effective. We did manage to kill it, but it got 2 of us.
Overall I thought it was cool and there was a very high “WTF” factor - it might be that it needs a bit of tuning though, we’ll see.
This boss is trivialized with a shield and if you are lacking that in your team comp, then you can just sacrifice someone for burst damage or ignore it. I think it is a fantastic map hazard to play around. Many people liked L4D so I think most would like this easily avoidable hazard. Adds some spookiness to the game like what the trailers showed.
They just attack way too fast and don’t let up. You can only dodge/block it so many times, while avoiding anything else that might be trying to hit you too. If your team isn’t focusing in on it for one reason or another (sometimes valid, sometimes not), it runs around and does its business far to effectively, imo.
So I’ve done another mission, and while we could avoid it this time, at one point we ended up having to fight it. The two ogryns in the party both died before the daemon host left…cause yet again you have no choice but to sacrifice someone.
All im saying is, there should be an alternative to, someone must be sacrificed in order to fight it/make it go away. just my opinion.
It definitely needs some more time with players. So far i’ve not had a run where i could not avoid it, even tough it does get bit scary when it starts to stare at you when you get closer.
So there are probably few of those “oh crap it moved i must shoot” moments going on as well.
Its clearly designed to mimic witch from l4d so if it does end up blocking progress then its more than likely not intended. But if it turns out its intended to be fought sometimes then it probably needs some tweaking.
I would suggest making it possible to stagger the Daemonhost by
- Using Psykers push ability
- Using Ogryn Charge Ability
- Doing a huge amount of damage quickly
in the Power Matrix mission you can only avoid one of the 4 demonhosts. I did it 3 times and they are in the same places
They’re fine, sneak by them.
Was one hell of a fun event though. Scared the crap out of me.
