Not at all, but it’s ridiculous to have an opinion about balancing when you’re not even playing at the highest level. The nerf does more or less nothing at lower difficulties where enemies has less health and stagger resistance anyway.
I have changed my opinion since I understood the reason you guys were whining: it’s not fun to you if you cannot kill enemies.
I initially thought you were talking about weapon representation when you talked about “balance”. And I still maintain that weapon representation does not need to be balanced. I do not care if everyone uses the same weapon.
actually we like to be killed as well, dont tell the emperor
Let’s be real no scrub who cannot true solo damnation should be having an opinion on game balance.
True solo dog mode damnation or GTFO in my opinion!
And here you see one of the reasons why Darktide remains such a niche game despite pulling in such a large initial audience, partially through the IP.
They are somewhat tougher but not so tough that you can’t hit most breakpoints. Its actually pretty well balanced assuming good equipment. They are NOT bullet sponges which is how most games increase difficulty. Instead they are damage dealers, which feels great. Gotta learn not to get hit.
How? It only was nerfed in a very limited way on impact and damage for flak and carapace. Its still the same on unarmored and feels the same to use (to me) on flak dudes except ragers and crushers. Which was exactly the problem it had in being too strong against every elite and every basic enemy and being extremely ammo efficient.
I guess it’s hard to describe feelings. But I will try.
When I used to switch to my trusty flamer, I felt excitement. Then when hear the click sound it makes when its ready, everything calmed down as I fired. All I could hear wast the roar of the flame and the screams. It was beatifying, like meditation. There was no fear, no danger, just pure joy. And when finally the clip was empty, and all the enemies burned to a crisp, I felt satisfaction.
And how is it so different exactly?
Now the burning is shorter. Much shorter. And there is danger. So the beatification is gone.
But hey, I sold my flamer and moved on. I now use a Boltgun. It’s a different type of fun.
I’d like to see the zealot talents reworked.
The nerf to Armored Enemy was ok and makes sense.
but the ammo capacity, was too harsh, hardly see anyone uses flamer recently.
I’ve seen more flamer since the nerf than before, users are much better at it too. It might be just variance.
I can say for myself i was bored with flamer, so i switched to autoguns, shredder and shotguns, now i use flamer too sometimes after the recent nerf. It’s a bit better at causing stress to you (in a good way) and at pumping adrenaline when you need to reload a bit more often or switch to melee faster.
Blindfolded. Otherwise it doesn’t count. On a serious note, some of the Preachers talents and zealot specific weapons could use some love. It isn’t the flamer tho.
After over 380 hour in the game i can´t remember a round where one guy was dominating and the others had nothing to do. maybe i was just lucky but the there was no flamer spam and the powersword was no problem eighter. maybe in T1-T3 it would be stupid anyways to spam a flamer because there is no horde. i guess some should just play the game and let the others do their thing. same in real life, where someone gets annoyed by a porsche driver and from there one all the porsche drivers and the cars are bad. I played a lot with the flamer before and as i can tell you can basically do the same thing now if you misuse it.
I used the flamer a lot pre-nerf and generally agreed it needed a hefty nerf.
I think it needs even more of a nerf, honestly. I still get lobbies with 2 zealots both using the flamer. I still use the flamer often in T5/Damnation because its room-clearing power is unparalleled. The only thing it can’t kill is Crushers. Flak enemies still die very quickly because they’re all low HP enemies with armor to pad it. Burn still does 100 damage/second at 10 stacks to flak (it used to be 200/second). That’s also not accounting for the tick damage from the weapon itself. Flak elites have like 1500-2000 HP at best in T5, or something. They all die quickly.
I think a better nerf would have been to delay the application of Burn stacks but make it ramp up exponentially over time so it applies at the same rate as it does now. This addresses the spam-click exploit in braced mode.
I genuinely think OP doesn’t know what they’re talking about, I’m sorry. The entire post is filled with reactionary knee-jerk whining about “multiple nerfs” when the only thing tangentially related to zealot being nerfed is that one of their class-unique weapons that trivialized the entire game got nerfed.
As far I can see nerfs to PS and Flamer just raised the bar for a high roll on base score, perks and blessings. Lack of resource management (ammo, peril etc) on Power Sword makes it unfixable. You either nerf it to the ground or leave it OP. As literally everyone spams the special attack on it, it must be rather frustrating to use it. I would rather have something like 5/10 minute ALWAYS ON activation on it per match which drains over time, then this special attack button spam.
Flamer still has too high damage and stagger vs maniac, unyielding and armour targets, but for now they should probably leave it as it is. I have no idea what they should do with flamer with ammo lying around on the maps and being uniform for all weapons.
It was hit “very hard” and it still can do basically everything it did pre-patch.
Damage is debateable but how does it stagger to much excactly? It slightly reduces their movement speed.
