Content incoming? No, hotfix

even doom had patches in 94 and after.

not that i knew of em in the first place back then for i had doom 1/2 on a goldstar CD as the only source and only later access to faster university internet connection ( with a fake id :sunglasses: )

so yeah, no game on pc to my knowledge stayed unpatched.

with console cartridges you were basically fked from the start

hazily remember “SIN” or half life patches downloaded on various 3,5" floppy disks only to find 1 of 50 broken and being forced to redo the whole james bond act again.

Exactly, now that consoles can update on the fly too, the industry as a whole has a lower standard for what they release. QA costs money and time.

Patches cost money and time too, but the guy with the business degree either doesn’t know or care about that when looking to cut costs.

I have to disagree with you on this one. I actually wish they would do these even more often, especially if they contain balancing changes. Yeah, it sucks seeing a new update drop just to realize it’s a simple hotfix for little things that dont matter much, but the smaller issues do add up if they arent tackled.

even if new maps get added, which is nice (not complaining here) they´re yet another playground were ingame rules and bugs apply.

so rather than having 3 new maps each with new issues, i´d like the recent one fixed as in metal floor sheets tilting up ever so slightly to stop you dead in your tracks.

or clear obstacles noclipping trappers nets as they don´t seem to be attributed “solid” by the map editor.

yes new toys are cool, no thems breaking down instantly isn´t.

and at this complexity level, expecting issue free content right out of the box is… something.

i wonder at what low failure tolerance jobs some people earn their livelihood with.
then again even the mafia hitmen ain´t what they used to be anymore

If the hotfix is mainly cosmetic changes, again, than yes I’ll be upset. If its actually important changes than I’m all for it and do not see an issue in the slightest.

Majority of their “hotfixes” are fixing issues that were presented with the current patch or the patch before. Those including broken cosmetics. I don’t understand how people are thinking its okay for them to release broken content then they patch that broken content with a hotfix thus prolonging actual content even longer. But hey, apparently people are happy we are getting these hotfixes for issues they RECENTLY created so there’s that.

Felt meme-worthy

I love hotfixes i want more hotfixes I would like daily hotfixes of a single issue.
but we all know how badly this will turn out with fatsharks version control issues. so once every 2 weeks is fine.

So you mean, personal insults, mocking, and just trying to get in fights with everyone in 1 steam and 2 fs forum threads, is not toxic behavior because you agree with the elitist opinions that the op has? Mkay, then.

The meme was meant to point out the irony.
You’re the one that brought it up here, again in a reply to him.

P.S. Lol at elitist.

They use the biweekly hotfixes to add new cosmetics to the files for the Premium Shop rotation. That’s why they’re so frequent. The actual bugfixes are incidental and secondary. I’m of the opinion that these updates would be a good opportunity to do some regular balance tweaking, just a few changes every fortnight, but no dice so far.

Uhm, yes, I am the one who pointed out that the op is toxic. Again. You know that toxicity is not disagreeing with you personally, right?

Stop being so toxic!

I think the OP is saying that instead of rushing something out that you know is broken then having all these hotfixes, why not fix the problem first THEN release the first patch.

I mean that is how most successful manufactures with 80+ years of existence work. You make your prototypes and test them until they fail, figure out how & why they failed, then come up with a fix and repeat the whole process until it doesn’t fail at a reasonable level of use. And we do this while having juggle all kinds of real-world issues (supply chains, quality of materials, inherent variation in accuracy of machines & people, etc) that we have little to no control over. Oh and have to meet certain deadlines and standards or bad things happen (ex. get fined $100,000+ US per minute that a customer’s line is down due to a bad part).

Is it really that much to ask people who don’t have to deal with most of those issues to actually produce a working product at the start instead of a piece of junk that needs to go to the digital equivalent of the autoshop 10+ times before it reaches the “as advertised with disclaimers” grade?

Oh, you are a troll, my bad.

What a toxic thing to say!

This seems not to be logical.

You want them to NOT fix old bugs,
but instead add new stuff, that you want to be not-bugged.

With every new content the chance of bugs increases,
but with your “system”, we would not only have the chance for new bugs,
but still have the old ones, too, because those never got fixed.

Have I unstood you correctly?

i mean if you just place a metric :poop: ton of anything you can literally build on sand, at some point it won´t sink in any further

maybe same goes for bugs,
add enough maps so the buggy ones don´t return so often in the rotation.

Guess your one of the lucky few buddy where it’s even playable it’s not even playable for a huge majority of the player just look at the forum feeds it’s full of people who can’t even enjoy the game. I’d much rather them push the whole item crap back a whole year if need be cause it’s just completely in a terrible state rn
