Constructive Darktide MELEE retrospective and criticism

If we are talking about non-gameplay thing then it’s cause of SFX mostly, or atleast it’s the most noticeable part for me.

For example:

  • feels like hammer hits are missing sound effects, no broken bones, wet flash sound, just some dull sound. You can see the blood, but can’t hear it. It’s fine only on kills.

  • they did a great job with great hammer, its swings sound heavy and slow espesicaly when it’s over your head, such satisfying BASS WOOSH.

  • DT hammers sounds not even like Kruber’s one, but like a wet towel or a rope.

Another example - 1h swords:

  • In V2 you can hear the blade itself, that metallic almost sharp sound in mix

  • in DT you barely can hear it, can’t even say is it there in every hit sound

And it’s almost with any weapon - in V2 you can hear different sound effects in the mix - metal clinking and flesh wounds, while in DT there like 1 dull sound effect.
