What!? I didn’t see any kicking option in the game yet but honestly i did not search for it… Is that really implemented already?
If that’s true, there was no need to debate then…I don’t care, that’s a dangerous feature, according to me, but if that’s already here…
agree so hard here. I can overlook some weapons that were advertised not appearing on launch and I have no issue with paid cosmetics but their implementation has not been thoughtout. Vermintide 2 was upfront with “here is how much it costs” (valuation is debatable); this premium currency (worse when it doesn’t align with outfit cost) is not a step in the right direction
Yup, like joaquox said, callouts and assertive communication are important in many fields.
I’m in correctional mental health care. You know how many times parole officers, prosecutors, judges, and court case workers push hard to try and get counselors to bend their ethics to make their jobs easier? Knowing full well they’re asking clinicians to break the law? A lot of the time they don’t back off UNLESS you stand up for what’s right. Assertively.
We approach these colleagues and tell them to fix or adhere to what they promised and to what is morally/ethically/legally right. We increase the severity of our tone until they do it. There is nothing bad faith about that.
Bad faith is being lazy and doing the wrong thing or not adhering to what was promised / agreed. I mean, we literally spent money as part of an informal contract in the preorder and Fatshark straight up lied about many of the things they said they would deliver on their end, less than the full amount of weapons for example.
Just because the consequences for not doing what’s right are more significant for me and that other guy, it does not mean that Fatshark also gets a pass. People like you giving them a pass are why the video game industry has DEVOLVED SO MUCH and become so ANTI-CONSUMER. Are you too young to realize when games were polished upon release? When DLCs were widely loved? When there weren’t artificial grinds placed into FIRST PERSON SHOOTER/ACTION GAMES?
Not to mention that “deceiving and manipulating designs” (what the shop employs) are not accepted or allowed in some countries, like in the EU.
Also, it is almost sickening, because they DID AN AWESOME job projecting the gameplay of Vermintide into Warhammer 40k, but somehow many things got just wrong (as if they had travelled through the warp…).
Sadly it seems no accident, but done on purpose what makes this so infuriating and depressing.
Well, they fixed some issues already (e.g. seemingly the timers of the premium shop), so if they only need time, I am ready to give it to them. My opinion was anyway (at the latest after the first beta) that DT is not ready for release, but back then many said “it is just a beta, bro!”.
Yeah, right. It was not.
Last time I checked, I could try on clothes on myself, not just the mannequin, at physical garment stores.
Last time I checked I could return clothes at physical garment stores.
Last time I checked I could pay only for what I want, I don’t have to buy gift cards in 25/50/75/100 dollar denominations and buy everything with those.
Last time I checked, a hoodie that someone buys (without being able to try it out, with no ability to return it) doesn’t automatically shave off the facial hair that the person spent 2 years growing out.
Did you really make an account so you could protect a corporation’s predatory monetization strategies?
You can’t be coming on here to call other people idiots when you’re literally lying and/or wrong.
Try looking at the premium cosmetic shop again. You CANNOT see how individual items look on your own character until you buy it. It’s how I ended up buying the red Remembrance Hood without realizing it would SHAVE my Facial Hair.
Look, if not for the fact that Fatshark said that it’s unintended and they’ll try to fix it, can you call that anything else besides predatory and misleading?
Ahhh, classic. Everyone who disagrees with me is a crybaby, an idiot, a child, and a scrub. Did you wake up this morning with rats in your ass?
I would not mind, but the FIRST post in this community and it is rather inhuman and hostile.
So, shall I Welcome you now? Nice, that you be a part of this community and that you are sharing your view.
Also, I only stated the definition of dark patterns and this is what the premium currency shop deploys/ is based upon.
But, I even stated that Fatshark works on improving it and alleviate the issues we have (if this was not clear, I hope it is now).
What does a “clothing store” has to with that anyway? I guess you are referring to the “skins”, but in no clothing store I was, so far, they did try to take advantage of me or obscure my spendings (e.g. with a premium currency).
Also, if “I would not be wanted there”, it seems the mindset you show would not be wanted in some parts of the world, because, like I hinted at, deceit and manipulation is not accepted in most part of the world.
It should not be accepted anywhere and especially not between us - players and Fatshark.
I am at a loss of words, really.
I don’t think anyone is directly calling the shop “deceiving and manipulating”, that’s a gross over-exaggeration of what has everyone pissed off.
The issue is that they’re enabling F2P game practices on a product that already costs $40. It’s even more of an issue given that the last $40 title Fatshark made, Vermintide 2, had a cosmetic shop that had reasonably priced cosmetics you could obtain with in-game currency that you earned by doing Okri’s Challenges. Additionally, the premium cosmetics could be purchased with real money, without having to spend more money than they’re worth on another type of currency that you can’t earn in-game.
Sure, some people are more than reasonably upset about this, but their reactions don’t make this practice any less unnecessary. There isn’t any problem with a developer trying to make more money off of their project. It is a problem when they do it in a $40 title, discarding a system that worked perfectly in their last project, and replacing it with a system that intentionally forces players to pay more than what’s necessary to obtain the item they want.
Your responses in this thread have been immature and unwarranted. If you don’t want to hear anyone out and engage in healthy discussion, then you need to leave.
Except Amazon or is this no store? And (at least in my country and some others in the EU) everyone else?
The only thing were one gets problems is if the items were underwear.
Otherwise? Jackets, Dresses, T-shirts, … no issue.
It is optional, true enough, but it employs
- premium currency
- timed skins (they are on hold for now, but we lack further verification)
- prices, packs of Aquilas vs skins, do not add up (but they are working on it, like I mentioned)
I just stated the obvious, which is, again, regulated even by law in the EU. It is not my “POV” or “how I feel”, it is a fact, socially accepted and being worked with and improved upon (like the Digital Service Act).
Besides, I WANT to support the game, MANY do. We BOUGHT the game (can you imagine?, we paid for it), some even have the imperial edition, not only because we want to play, no, to show that we WANT FS to deliver a great experience!
Many would even buy skins (I too), if some of the issues would be alleviate and the general direction of the game improved.
This is no rocked science to gather that - also we are far from not wanting them to fix the game. We want an awesome game from FS, we KNOW they can do it. We will stick with them until it is done and celebrate them accordingly.
No, sorry, I do, in fact.
It may sound a bit exaggerating, mainly because many deploy such tricks, granted, but in my country and the EU such designs are regulated by law and watched how much harm they do to customers.
Even the possibility to be malicious is not accepted and worked against.
Also they are defined, premium currency alone is “deceiving and manipulating”, because it obscures the spendings one does, also it uncouples the value of the product and the real money, because only the “premium currency” can be used to pay.
I know that e.g. in Asia or the USA it is done differently, but in the EU it is taken more seriously. Not always, but we are trying.
Understandable.
What I believed this guy was referring to was the shop in general, and not specifically the current state of the shop. I don’t see any issue in a cosmetic shop, but as I said in my long-winded reply, I have an issue with how they’re currently running it.
Thank you.
Yeah, I too have no issues with a cosmetic shop. I love the cool skins in Vermintide 2 and bought even skins in games like Warframe (like… almost 10 years ago, before… things changed).
I am “just waiting” to get the one odd piece in Darktide, but I wait for now, cue: “how they’re currently running it”.
The crafting system sound bad for actual grind that could potential let players give up.
The only way to obtain weapons is very limited and poorly designed, to obtain a desired weapon is already a problem and top on that is the states.
By adding perk lock may just cost more trouble for you to fix in future.
Do think it will be another huge complain when its implemented.
Hope their design will consider entire system as whole before act.
I don’t feel incentivized to play Darktide, sure I can beat Damnation… but for what? For some gold and upgrade materials? Then I have to wait an hour to maybe get the right weapon in a shop? In Verm2 we could get nicely rolled items from completing the matches… AT LEAST!!! In Darktide I literally get nothing for completing a match. It makes it not fun to replay. I am going to take a break and see the updates, if you fail, then I won’t support this studio anymore. Figure this out please.
There are more gripes to be had with this game, but this one annoyed me. I don’t get anything from playing the damn game, except “Cool, I can do Damnation”
Could we please please please get solo mode sooner then later?
My internet is so garbage that the game has been completely unplayable. The best moments are those first minutes or so where i have three other bots because the other players haven’t spawned in and i can actually play without horrible lag and rubber banding.
Couldn’t you guys add it as a steam beta that we could opt into? That way you make it clear thats its not done but you still give the players like me the chance to have a smooth experience, bugs and all. Because trust me, id much rather have some dumb bots over being disconnected literally every 5 minutes or being killed becuase i rubber banded into a corner.
While I am still levelling two chars to 30 (rather 3, because 5 operatives) and I lack the skill for Damnation yet, I get what you mean.
There is nothing to come back to except the game itself.
(Strange as it sounds)
For example Banter between chars is, sometimes, quite good really, but it is no Vermintide 2; I’d rather taken a “Vermintide 2 in Space” were one had been able to customize the character one plays (like with the “main char” in e.g. Fallout, Mass Effect or similar) instead this ship of nobodys were nothing reminds you at who you are (except “This one is for Cadia!”).
Were even the story forgets to tell you about the story so you stand at level 30 there like “What the… Whatever. Ok, back to my duty.” as if nothing happened and all the cutscenes before were just some strange visions not related to the game.
I think the perk-lock feature serves no purpose except to add conditions to the RNG we already have, so that even more potential weapons/ trinkets go to the bin and EVEN MORE time is needed to grind.
Also why should the re-rolling getting more expensive with every try? This is also just nonsense. Furthermore if we combine both systems, why the increase at all?
As I get it, we will lock 50% of the weapon anyway, so if we would REALLY want to change something, we are forced to grind a new one (and at least 50% of the perks + blessings) and work Hadron’s magic there.
(Magic because crafting does not fit the setting, so it can not be crafting, which means she must be a Psyker. What is great, but, yeah, “magic”. /joke)
