The CM can only say what the devs are allowing them to say.
Catfish said she is passing the feedback about RNG/locks/siloing along to the developers, but if they are so deadset on keeping it in the game and don’t want to address it, there’s really not much that can be shared in the Comm-Links.
Right. I’m not saying the lack of comms is Catfish’s issue at all. She’s replied directly here about it. For sure the devs don’t want to say anything about this right now.
I’d like to point out a lack of a statement on the issue doesn’t mean, necessarily, something nefarious. Usually in business it just means that a solution hasn’t been decided on and telegraphing intent too early could result in more trouble by setting the wrong expectations. In my line of work I do a lot of work to avoid setting the wrong expectations because its more disasterous than just not saying anything at all most of the time.
As a PM myself I find about 50% of the time the client may have a perfectly valid complaint but the solution they propose for their problem is terrible. I’m not saying that’s the case here. But just trying to put in context what is likely happening.
If there are 3 charges on a medicae and 4 players, reality dictates that one person will not get a heal (excluding the medipack variable). In my mind, the person that should skip out should be the person that has the most wounds still remaining, but I have no problem if the person that skips is the character that gets invulnerability to death every 1.5 minutes PLUS the ability to regen health after cheating said death.
I’m 900 hours in and I don’t recall a single person ever complaining about this in a strike team. Many people that play in damnation have also played preacher at some point and are aware of their survivability which is why I’m guessing it is a non-issue for most.
No point in complaining. Just plan to pick them up. In pub games there’s no point or moral right to tell other people how to play. You count it as another variable of AI director.
If he has the perk. It is meta and probably best. I use it and I know it’s not as reliable as medicae.
To be fair. Sometime after WoM they did announce that they wouldn’t change out the vanilla crafting system for the “adventure mode”. The reasoning was that it was too late to do so - subtext of people already investing plenty in those systems and there would probably be quite a few sad ( ) faces.
I picked up DRG during the 5 year anniversary and sunk a good number of hours into it. I prefer the tide-gameplay but I recognize that DRG a great game and I’m astonished by how player-friendly it is. Sure, it’s not a fresh release, and it’s obviously aged well with continued support, but even if I try I to find things to complain about I have a really hard time doing so. Astonishment including the super friendly community and how the mods are curating “sanctioned” mods together with the community.
Also, you have an unhealthy relationship with steamcharts
Same here. Don’t oversell your service/product or you’ll end up with unhappy customers.
The glaring issue here isn’t that they keep quite though (even though that was a glaring issue for like 2 months) but that they already set the expectations a day or two before official release. They just suddenly decided on a way less player friendly path and THEN started keeping quiet. We had the same issue for months at a time in VT2. When Hedge started communicating about it the forum called down plenty.
On topic of customer relations. The second rule for me is to make sure that you bring up any issues with the client as soon as you are able too, because if you aren’t up front about it things will probably turn really sour, no matter who’s at fault. I’m not gonna tell Fatshark how to run their studio but I am gonna tell them that they really suck at doing it most of the time (excluding artwork, choosing voice actors, music and trailers, etc.).
So a traffic monitor that only tracks steam players and the pants pooping reviews of angry kids.
They are working on things. It is not as if they have not been releasing two patches a month trying to get to a better state than they were forced to release in. How big is the dev team? How complicated are the changes? What state would the game be in after those changes?
Personally, removal of the locks and basically handing everyone the best of everything is going to lead to attrition. Same people complaining that things are not challenging, also want locks removed. So, the easy game that is easy without the best in slot possibles would be even easier. Then we are looking at accessibility for new players. Without gear and/or level requirements in place for each tier of difficulty, are people going to try to go to high too fast and give up? That is another path of attrition.
There is a lot to consider when making the changes that people cry out for. It is not a simple solve and every change to make me happy will make just as many people unhappy.
IMO the game content is not the death knell for a game like this. Not being able to play the modifiers you want, when you want is an issue. It does not bother me, but it is something every game offers. The roulette of what missions are up, what day and hour it is, who is online and server limits are brutal. I cannot imagine the state of things when there were over 10k actives at once. Things are finally more stable and I get a crash so rarely now. I don’t think the solution is giving game content like locks and blessings the freedom people want. I think it is in customizing the mission you play. Then you can put silly high prices on buying blessing OR you can find them on weapons. I just think if there is not progression to play for, you will have less people actually play.
I am just not seeing the death of the game as others. The number drop offs are not nearly as bad as other games when taken in %s. Lots of reasons that people stop playing a game. New games, attrition and dislikes are worthy reasons.
Personally, my feel is that perpetual complains of players is what hurt more the game than the current mechanisms in it. They need to address the problem, but I don’t think removing lock is the solution.
Permit us to craft more items is, in my opinion, what is needed. Especially for casual players.
Tbh, game is incredibly good. There are bugs, there are needed improvements, but the core is amazing. Even people that complain a lot, and hurt bad the game, continue playing it…
Off course, we all know masochists that don’t play the game but come on the forum of a game they hate every days… but here we can’t do anything for such persons…
No, i mean the cosmetic packs that were released every week during the first month or so of the games launch. The most recent cosmetic pack has been there for quite a while, and was the last one we got.
So I really enjoy the game already as it stands, especially as a psyker!
However what i find a bit frustrating is the way we have to RNG our way towards essentially everything in the crafting system.
For me a perfect example of this is when on a curio I get a non combat related perk when I level them up, and then another one so that I can no longer make it work for me. And I mean, Shure, of course it IS RNG but it seems to me that the amount of plasteel (especially plasteel) that I waste on curio after curio that JUST KEEPS rolling non combat related perks at the last two levels so that its impossible to fix with the re-rolls is just insane.
I dunno, for me this is the only real frustration I’ve got, the gameplay is just amazing and I’d love to spend a few thousand more hours in Tertium!
Also one cool thing would be if we got a bonus for when we killed demons, plage -ogryns and Beasts of nurgle, that would be really cool and really incentivize those boss fights at least for me!
Oh, also it would be super cool if we got a tier like exterminatus witch would be like one step or two above t5 with the hardest modifiers. something like t6 with high intensity shocktroop gauntlet essentially only the very best teams would be able to complete them at all, and that the team wipes doesn’t just come from disablers but from genuinely being completely overrun by the “basic” hoards.
Also, I hope my English is understandable as its not my first language.
It’s more to my point. I’ll try to make this short.
If PZ has and proven his skills in combat and positioning that outweigh luck, PZ should be always topped up. Otherwise PZ is liability that gambles on tools rather than working on probabilities. And gambling is always a liability.
Will you ever talk about those promised new classes every 3 months after release again or did that space got taken up by the images of yourself you added that no one asked for?
I was never against locks until I decided to actually try and get the weapon I wanted, on my psyker.
I have an illisi sword, with slaughterer (III) + deflector (III), one of the perks is +20% damage to maniacs, the damage bar is at 79%, it works very well overall (at least on heresy).
The rest of the stats are terrible though, so I’ve been trying my luck, collecting illisis with “potential” and upgrading them, the stack is growing bigger and bigger and so far they’re all “bricked” - have perks like +damage to unyielding & Sprint speed, which one of those do you choose to keep on a crowd control only sword? (And that’s just the perks, the blessings are a whole other layer on top) It’s already never going to be satisfactory, so I move on… And on… And on… And on… When does this get fun?
Will being able to craft even more and make my pile of shame grow faster make it fun?
Why does this have to be the way it is, isn’t there another way to keep it challenging without this pointless time wasting & frustration?
Spoiler: there are tons of ways.
i feel you, i gave up on making perfect weapons a month ago, i am just riding on rng luck wave of emperors gifts.
relaying on gifts is positive for me, because i like the actual gameplay, its always fun.
the absurd odds of getting good weapon with stat distribution you want and a decent perk (level 3 is enough) is putting me down from attempting to craft.
i think just improving odds of getting better weapons at brunt, or even better…
allowing us to revert weapon back to white so we could try again would be great crafting addon
or the ultimate removing the locks just take one of 3 above and implement it please!
