If you want to play Plasma right you already vent like crazy, health damage isn’t that big of a deal. Just run double health curio.

The efficiency bottleneck is the ammo anyway. Plasma can’t even be run on Specialist gauntlet if you are the only “anti-special” since you just run out too fast and passive regen and pickups just can’t keep up.

Unfortunate. Plasma patch is gonna go through and feeders are gonna feed harder and have no idea

looking forward to this update, it looks promising.

Thank you Fatshark for giving also unlockable cosmetics through penances.
This is a good start.

Cheers

This game is bleeding players daily due to lack of content, broken and bugged mechanics, the terrible crafting system, and overall lack of player agency or respect for their time and we, the community are expecting some movement in improving the game but all we are getting these small hotfixes to fix a weapon that’s been bugged since the beginning of the game and new penances…FS is so out of touch with the community it’s ridiculous. It was bad before in V1 and V2 but they have just gone completely off the rails.

it’s like the typical 5k players for V2 are now split between V2 and Darktide.

but yeah let’s fix the penances…

This slow pace of development is not sustainable to maintain this game.

This 40,000 times. I would go play my vet or my ogryn but i don’t feel like grinding for money and mats when i already have plenty. My few friends who still play all have only 1 character at level 30. I’ve asked them why they don’t want to try out a new character and their exact description is:
“The grind is too painful. I want to try out the cool class weapons but it’ll take so long to get decent ones even after I level up its just not worth it.”

They would have to make the venting absolutely nuke your bar to make a dent on confirmed kill, which you absolutely should be using. So yeah not actually spending a resource, since unwavering fire lets me take nothing, sounds like a good trade. I would actually not be shocked when unwavering focus affects that damage too from the same current bug.

most of this stuff sounds great but i’d like to point out that:

  • On Malice Threat or higher, kill 1000 enemies with Melee Attacks whilst at at least 3 stacks of Martyrdom.

…doesn’t encourage team play.

The game came out 4 months ago, I don’t do game development, but working on business software, this is actually pretty responsive given the integrations they probably have to work with with publishers. Also, keep in mind, demands for speed now often creates clean up work for developers later as they work to meet deadlines, this is called technical debt. It slows down future work.

Don’t get me wrong, as a company, they dug their own hole, but conversely they have been pretty fast from my perspective working on business software in another sector. Demanding they work faster is a demand that they make decisions that require accounting later and someone else will also demand speed as well at that later point.

I see what you did there.

@Reginald

And by the time you get there, the cool class weapons will be neutered in pursuit of the ever-nebulous “game balance”.

Don’t agree with you… you just have to not use medic station.

Its actually almost 5, not accounting for our access to it as a closed beta. But I am in the same camp as you. A lot of good changes have been made and despite the general negative tone the forums usually have I would aruge that Fatshark has done a pretty good job in fixing the right things in a timely manner or at least ameliorating the worst pain points. But I do feel like the pace is surprisngly slow.

More maps would presumably be handled by a different team than the team that handles new weapons, etc. They have improved performance a ton since launch and that’s commendable but we’ve only been getting new weapons, buffs, nerfs, and gameplay modes. I cannot imagine it takes 5 months to put out each new map.

Stuff like that has me scratching my head a bit. No offense to the team intended. Maybe they’re going to mag dump a bunch of content on us in May or something. Maybe there’s other perfectly justified reasons for that that I don’t know about because obviously I don’t work there.

Are the material drops on relay getting fixed yet?

I appreciate you sharing your experience and expertise and it does make sense but much of what the community is asking for hasn’t even been addressed by FS. We literally don’t know what their stance on progression/currency/materials/locks is and it sure feels like it’s going to stay the way it is.

Without that knowledge is why many players are no longer playing. It’s going to take more than fixing the rashaad and re-working penances to get players back.

I was just pointing out that the health damage wasn’t that big of a deal anyway. We’ll see how it interacts with unwavering focus when it comes out…

To be honest I would take an increased ammo regen over the health to toughness self-damage any day.

So I have a premonition, which I’m going to write down below so on the off chance it proves correct I can earn my Nostradamus badge!

My theory is that Fatshark has been silent on blessing & perk locks because it ties into (a) their eventual plan for “red weapons” and (b) their desire to somehow monetize red items.

I don’t think this is a stretch at all to think this might be the case. Looking at VT2, you already had weapons “monetized” as part of class DLC and weapon/map pack DLCs. Arguably, many of the DLC weapons are among the “best” weapons available for a given class. So the precedent is there.

In Darktide’s case, imagine if all a red weapon was a fancy skin, 400 base rating (everything at 80), and no blessing or perk locks. While technically it is “better” than any potential non-red item, it’s performance with respect to base stats is still in the same ballpark (especially since important stats like damage can be maxed at 80 either way) of an orange item, so it’s not like it’s a huge advantage from a stat perspective. Likewise, if the Blessing & Perk locks are removed on a red weapon, again it doesn’t technically make the weapon better than what you can conceivably get via RNG, it’s just that you can immediately have it at your fingers tip.

In essence, monetizing red weapons becomes a case of “paying to skip the grind”, which of course is a familiar tool in the toolbox of “dark pattern” game manipulation tactics. You’re not paying to get a massively superior weapon (so it’s only lightly pay-to-win, and certainly no worse than DLC weapons from VT2), but instead you’re paying to skip the grind and advance faster.

I think FS could deliberately be building up an immense amount of pent up frustration so when they finally release Red Weapons alongside the monetization scheme, there will be sufficient numbers of people that will hop on the bandwagon and buy them to keep up the game’s financial performance. Even if that means a lot of other people leave in utter frustration. So much about the game’s design, and aspects of it that haven’t changed, are oriented around exploiting whales. My prediction is the item locks are tied into that end.

I’m pretty sure they must have pulled a lot of people from developing new content into bug-fixing work. This would also include the balancing team that was hard at work to get most weapons ehm… fixed, instead of focusing on balancing upcoming weapons.

I’m on one hand happy that the game progressed from the disaster that was the launch, but I just can’t wait for a new class or new map or something finally. They promised 1 class every 3 months or something if I remember correctly and it’s long overdue…

I’m more in the camp that there’s just tension between the reporting stats and the player complaints and they can’t decide which to listen to.

Also, they’re definitely looking at the console release as a playerbase/moneymaker option way more than they’re looking at milking us hangers on. Its what I’d do. Polish the game up over the next 6-8 months after release on polish and refinements. Use the community that’s playing as the playtesters. Drop it on console and get the youtubers to review the thing now that its fixed to draw the PC cleintel back. For the record that might sound cynical but I don’t object, personally. Makes business sense and means I get more content and polish.

I’m hoping they will implement this eventually. They’ll get a lot of people playing the game again when they trash the locking system. (On top of other things like the promised campaign.)
