With the recent debates about Fatshark nerfing certain player mechanics, I’ve noticed a specific narrative popping up. A vocal minority responded by claiming Asia players take the Havoc 40 title way too seriously. The accusation is that we rely on “broken” or “crutch” builds to clear it, have zero self-awareness of our actual skill level, and act like we’re invincible just because we got the title.
I want to set the record straight on how our community actually views this.
First off, no one here thinks clearing Havoc 40 makes them a god. While it is legitimately requires solid teamwork, the reason so many players want to keep their Havoc 40 title has nothing to do with a massive ego. For a huge chunk of the player base, maintaining Havoc 40 is just a weekly routine. Think of it like a weekly challenge in a mobile game—it’s simply a standard, structured goal people log in to complete with friends to unwind after a long day at work.
Secondly, regarding the claim that we lack self-awareness and rely on “crutch” builds: let’s be real. Yes, Havoc 40 is genuinely difficult, but absolutely no one in our region clears Havoc 40 and thinks they are suddenly a god gamer. That mindset just doesn’t exist here. Instead, the community looks up to the players who pull off Duo and True Solo runs. There is a unanimous agreement among us that only these players have earned the right to claim they are genuinely skilled. And frankly, we have no shortage of players doing exactly that.
So, to the very small group of people acting superior and claiming we are “crying” over an ego-boost: you are completely misreading the room. We aren’t upset because we think we’re invincible.
You misunderstand something. There was no prior bias. With the release of videos containing information about this patch there was a flood of threads. Threads that all had the same narrative: I am high level gamer, I know what this game needs, the nerfs will kill [insert generic class]. All obviously written by KI. When confronted with contrary opinions there was no technical debate, there was belittling, personal attacks and the try to set oneself in the image as the superior player. All before the patch notes dropped.
Multiple times all claims were debunked just to be brought up in just another thread like it creating the bias you speak of in just three days.
Funniest thing is now that the patch dropped there is radio silence. Call me an aluminium hat but that looked like an organised orchestrated try to push an agenda.
here’s my perspective, after thousands of hours of playing I haven’t found anyone who actually learned how to play and then enjoyed staying there. so assignments done and forever
I’m tired of this pompous exchanges and sudden flood or “Asian perspectives”. Your opinions are just that opinions, just like ours.
The whole affair started because some of your communities clearly review bombed the game on Steam, after the recent balance changes, and nerfs to some popular meta picks. If your communities like the challenge of Havoc40 difficulty, then you should welcome nerfs to often broken meta picks. Both things cannot be true at the same time.
Also…Google Translate exists, and everyone can read Chinese reviews on Steam. I’m not saying, you personally or any of your friends contributed to those negative reviews, but I haven’t seen so many examples of teenage rage and superiority complex in a long time. In fact I would say that examples of Chinese toxic elitism expressed in those “reviews” are so European, I cannot see a difference. Thanks God for chocoB, his calm and polite character. He should be the Asian Darktide community ambassador
Fatshark has done some justified adjustments, and one can only hope there is more to follow.
I’m trying really hard not to make a mistake of turning this into some pseudo-nationalistic scrap.
Even if some people try to frame it this way already. I had a quick look at some reviews in Chinese few days ago, as I was curious about those stats and there are actually those which were happy about the same nerfs which clearly stirred up some of their players.
I’m more than happy to read constructive opinions about game balancing. Especially if they aren’t framed into this silly mindset of “akhtually, I can solo / duo Havoc 40, therefore my opinion is the law” or whatever other nonsense I have seen expressed under some of those perspectives and Steam reviews.
99% of Asian players will not come to this forum, so the reviews on Steam are the only way they can hope to get the developers to notice their opinions.
This is not a review bombing, this is just a review.
We live in two different hemispheres and use completely different social media, so please do not arrogantly assume that Asian players must voice their opinions here for it to be the correct way to communicate their thoughts.
I never told anyone this forum is the only place to voice opinions on the game. Fatshark has multiple channels through which they collect player feedback, this forum is actually the smallest source. Steam reviews are a valid form of providing feedback. People here took an issue with what was said in a lot of those reviews dropped on the patch day. I have nothing else to add to this, it’s been discussed above in few other threads.
All the rage filled noise in those reviews aside, at least some people have to decide whatever they like challenging gameplay or being upset about nerfs. Those are two distinct and conflicting stances. The developer made some balance changes, not the first or last. This is a game in active development.
I for one would like to hear this regardless, I assume it involves some fermented shark, not sure if it’s fat or not.
Seriously though, the unwarranted review bombing left a bad taste in people’s mouths, and I hate games being held hostage for silly reasons; once bitten twice shy. Brigading negative Stream reviews was a d1ck move and ultimately self-defeating. The reviewers themselves often embarrassed themselves in ways usually reserved for N. Americans, it’s nice to see arsheholeness is a global plague akin to the Nurgle flu.
I’m still unclear as to what the whole Asian server perspective is, if there’s even a consensus or why the devs (or players) should care.
Why don’t you stop false reporting people @Fingeris for literally no reason… How’s that buddy? On other platforms you would’ve been silenced or better yet banned. You’re lucky they’re lenient here. Smarten up.
Wait…that’s him abusing the post flagging system with our posts? Surely there is no evidence? At this point I’m thinking maybe its time to ask actual mods to review who reports those posts, whatever those accounts are associated or clearly recently registered dummy accounts.
I apologise to anyone who found their feelings hurt by my “arrogant”, “yapping”. After all I’m just another “white-skinned” player who knows nothing about the game and secretly controls Fatshark balance decisions. All because we need Chinese players to join Europeans servers over VPN to get to Havoc 40. I thank you for your sacrifice.
Welcome to literal quotes to the Chinese Steam review section @Fingeris how do you like them apples?
He false reported me for mocking an A.I. post a few days ago & he got ratioed for doing it in the comments. Because we get spammed in this forum on a daily basis with that slop, which is just super tiring, honestly. I have no evidence of this person doing false flagging per se, but it wouldn’t shock me if that’s true as well.
