Chasm Logistratum Starting Area Improvements

The problems with this map section are not very noticeable in normal or auric missions because nothing spawns here so you can easily move forward to the next area. But in Havoc the enemy density is much higher and there’s a high chance of getting a full hp boss or a weakened one in this area so players spend more time here. In my opinion this map section is not enemy-kiting friendly due to its geometry.

First, I don’t like this fence. If a player falls back under pressure to this area it’s usually a death sentence because there’s not enough space to dodge and kite enemies effectively. The tunnel behind is also not a safe spot. Of course, the best solution would be to completely remove this fence and allow players to move freely but it will probably negatively affect the visuals of this section.


So instead making this fence a bit lower and allowing to vault over it using geometry can be a better option.

This part of the map is quite problematic as well. First, there are a lot of unnecessary geometry like boxes, containers and railings which hinder moving around. Second, if a hexbound daemonhost spawns here at least one player is forced to drop down to deal with it. But the only way up is the ladder and ladders in Darktide work bad, in general, because climbing them is very-very slow and players are completely defenseless against enemies. If a player is close to a ladder it’s possible to be “glued” to it and lose the control over your character leading to unavoidable damage or even death. Also enemies can hit a player on a ladder causing him to fall. Replacing this ladder with a ramp would be nice.

Players can jump over the broken bridge but it’s a bit tricky as the edges of this bridge are poorly indicated so it can be difficult to figure out how to properly jump here. Either the gap can be made smaller or textures can be changed to not look so confusing.
