Agreed. I was excited about this when I read it in the patch notes, but then I tested it in the Psykanium and it’s only adding single-digit damage to heavy attacks…
I like the idea of making it deal significant damage, but with an associated peril cost.
Agreed about the ability, disagree about the fix (not because it wouldn’t be useful but because it doesnt sound very fun) Though smite isnt very fun overall and should be reworked as a whole.
Keep the peril cost, i think its a great idea that would make things more interesting.
What charged strike IMO should do is add an arc lightning to the heavy attack which would work like this :
You perform a heavy attack > first enemy hit triggers the charged strike ability and triggers arcs times the amount of cleave your weapon has > so a weapon with 0 cleave would have only 1 arc dealing 25%(or more i donno, you balance it) of the damage dealt / a weapon with 100 or whatever cleave would get 10 arcs but the damage would be more evenly spread out like 5% each or smth.
This way this ability would be useful for all weapons, regardless if its a assassin or horde clearing weapon.
Imagine how cool it would be to use with the warp swords activated heavy attacks, like super charging them, would deal far more damage but also cost more.
So for example since the deimos sword does progressive damage as long as you hold it, it would keep shooting out arcs of lightning dealing 25% or whatever dmg to nearby enemies as it stays on the target. Then it might be finally safe to keep damaging the mauler with poxwalkers around since they’d just be killed by the arcs.
Maybe it should also do tiny amounts of stagger to push the smallest enemies away if it doesnt kill them.
