still see myself at my 486 going through E1M1 for the first time
You forgot about the third person in the room, James Workshop.
Yep. The ability to pair armor-stripping options with weapons that are already good-to-great at everything else is a huge part of the problem.
Such Talents and Blessings aren’t necessarily a bad thing, but they need to come with significant costs or disadvantages.
A good solution could be to introduce Armored Patrols to the game. Vermintide has the option to avoid a patrol (which consists of 100% armored enemies).
The pace of the game could benefit by placing the Crusher Stampede in a Patrol, with a similar notification from V2, (maybe even a change of music!?) to alert the Rejets one is nearby.
Some voice line ideas:
Morrow: “Looks like a patrols nearby, you should be able to hear them stomping around soon”
Kayex: “Look alive operatives, the machine spirit whispers an of upcoming Patrol.”
Hadron: “Varlets… Big Stompy Heretics Nearby… Understand?”
Mazosi: " Patrols are out and about, Look alive down there."
Zola: “Vox chatter indicates a nearby Patrol, Your choice to engage.”
and so on…
By removing the sudden Spam of 10 Crushers on top of each other, running through a door not wide enough to fit them, they can be placed further down the map and notified by the mission director or in some way. This could replace boss triggers, or leapfrog sections.
The goal of patrols is to give options for playstyles with low AP and/or allow rejects to initiate the Crusher Stampede.
PS: and if the game already has Patrols, thats just a nod that there maybe too many enemies on the screen (visual clutter) for players, like me, to notice.
Please no. Let our characters say it. No more vox chatter, I beg you.
That’s it!
That is so correct.
That’s why Duelling Sword OP!! (Also cuz it’s such a light sword, but why my mobility only decide by primary weapon? Secondary weapon doesn’t matter at all when I’m picking primary??)
That’s why nobody gonna use Heavy Sword and Catachan Sword.
Only in my opinion.
A game needn’t to completely realistic. But it should be base on realistic.
Yes, logical.
When it’s not logical, things getting weird.
DARKTIDE has done very well in many aspects. But it behaves a little perfunctorily in some aspects. 8/10 I give the score. Good enough but not perfect .
A big issue is the enemy design too. Crushers have no non-carapace weakspot. Unarmoured enemies have on average noticeably more effective health than their flak-amroured counterparts. It’s all a mish-mash of unintuitive design and that drags the weapons into its current state of balance.
That didn’t used to be the case. They had to add so many because of the power creep of players. It’s not healthy for the game, nor for the frame rate.
But that’s the whole idea of getting rid of rending. To have less enemies that pose a greater threat.
Edit: also you would reintroduce the initial strengths and weaknesses of weapons. Nowadays you can mitigate weaknesses with blessings and passive points.
Yes, please. This seems so obvious that I don’t get why it hasn’t happened yet. At least the story seems like it could be setting it up; the Admonition was doing some kind of gnarly ritual. Let them succeed and now we have some Daemons running around. Gives more use to the Infested armor type, too. Rending does basically nothing against this armor type, as I recall?
Fair point. Instead of of nefring the passives/weapons they just tallied up the enemy numbers which was the worse outcome.
At this point I don’t think they will start seriously nerfing characters or weapons as it would also require rebalancing the enemy numbers on higher diffs.
Personally, the higher difs are a joke.
When you have to spawn enemies out the floor and walls, because your (FatShark) are to lazy to put any effort in, you know something is seriously wrong.
And the reason it won’t change, is far to many people are will to shill and hand over cash to them.
They swallowed the pill and did something about crafting, it still has issues, but it is a million times better than what it was.
They need to do the same for balancing, armour, and putting some effort in to make the game actually harder.
For me, I am not gonna but the new class, like F are they getting money from me, of they are too lazy to do what is right by the game.
And gamers need to force this through there wallet. But gamers won’t because to many of them are mugs, but then moan and complain when things don’t work properly.
Well I wonder why… Giving them money is sending the message that’s is okay to keep churning out the lazy slop and put zero effort in addressing the games issues.
Want my money? Then get off your f-ing a*se and earn it, is my philosophy.
I personally think, that weapons weight and movelment penalties should still be included, even if the weapon is not drawn.
Carrying a heavy whopping great big bolter, designed for space marines, is going to be a nightmare to carry and still weigh a ton even if not equipped. #
Yes the bolter is great at clearing heavily armour targets, but it recoil should massive and holding the fire button down to empty the clip, should mean shots going off all over the place.
Same for plasma guns, big bulky things that do massive damage to targets, but at the cost of slow rate of fire, huge movement penalties even when holstered.
And the shot shouldn’t go through multiple targets really, it’s plasma and super heated, as soon as it struck a target, IMO, would act more like a waterbaloon. Thus a slow firing, high single target damage, not a horde clearer.
Tell me you are a new player without telling me you are new player
The bolter we carry is not a space marine weapon, it’s the same pattern of bolter used by Arbites/Sisters of Battle/high ranking officer/Inquisitors/whoever is rich enough to buy. They do not pack the same punch as the Astartes version and in game they already have a ridiculously high recoil, recoil that was even worse on release and made the gun completely unplayable for everyone except the Executioner Stance veterans that had virtually no recoil (the gun still kicked like a horse after every shot even if the shot was supposedly going straight with no recoil)
Plasma used to be that, a slow firing high single target damage gun and guess what ? It was the worst gun in the entire game by such a wide margin even the fricking auto pistol was more popular. The only thing keeping plasma out of the depths of the bin is the absurd cleave that was given after 6 months allowing it to perform its role as an elite deleter. Without the cleave the plasma gun is basically an always powered thunder hammer with limited ammo, no defensive option and that only works in very close range because the size of the projectile will make it hit small enemies if you try to hit through a horde.
And having a speed penalty for carrying a “heavy” weapon would only reinforce the current meta of speedrunning the levels. If you are left behind you die, no matter how good you are the AI director will get you, if everybody runs at mach 3 while you are lagging behind because you took a bolter or a flamer you will die 100% of the time or you won’t see any of the action if you are on low difficulty.
Funny thing about plasma being a heavy weapon.
It actually gives Veteran the ease of mobility. No ADS required, which means you can freely move, jump and aim. When usually for accuracy other weapons you ADS, restricts movement
Veteran has amazing ability to triangulate hip fire at sight level to distance pinpoint precision. Like cowboy quickdraws. Can even do mid air precision shots with full turn speed.
Which makes it useful choice against snipers as you can freely move/dodge whilst picking them off.
Very much reminds me of Quake 3 railgun
Blah blah, it’s still a big F-ing weapon with a massive kick. Even the scaled down versions. It’s big, bulky and heavy. Firing fat chunky explosive bullets.
Never had an issue, always loved the bolter. People that complained about it’s recoil, didn;t use it right.
I used to devastate with the thing. Especially with skill the Ogryn now has that switched to the weapon and automatically reloaded it. Shockingly devastating on groups of crushers.
I think the bolter is weaker now, tbh. Not as much fun.
That’s becaue the damage, wasn’t high enough for the single target for the trade off. Even in the lore, charged shots took a long time cool, and could only fire once every other turn.
But once again, FatShark goes from one extreme to the other.
And as for speed running, that needs to be dealt with too. Especially zeaalots who are always considered to be in a group regardless of how far they they go off.
There needs to be a trade off for high damage weapons, which means they are great against certain targets, but terrible against others.
But nah, people just cry always wanting everything with zero consequence or downsides.
This sorta my hope for like an end times for atoma or something along those lines, now i’m sure if they will make one big finale update for darktide but this would be so cool! I hope to see some really weird nurgle demons tho, maybe we get to see some sort of maggot enemy that digs or something or maybe even a big nurgle demon like rotigus or epidumius! Although i think this would rule out genestealer if where to happen maybe
