Can we please get rid of dogs, at least until they work correctly?

Sorry, but the Poxhound Space Program is here to stay.

  1. I love that!

  2. I fear you might be right. Though to be completely fair, the dogs going interstellar is the kinda jank I wish was kept in games more. It’s nothing but funny. For those that such brilliant physics ruins their immersion: go play tetris with physics

  3. Them flying to another solar system on death can stay, the rest of their behaviour and interactions has. to. go. I mean seriously, how hard is it to not mess up version control of the very last thing you worked on??? Even better: how hard is it to copy-paste back the code you added before you overrode/left it out on the new version?

Imo a dead dog being launched into space, is completely fine and pretty funny.
But as long as they are a danger, they should behave properly.

I have died multiple times when a dog went straight into the sky after pushed it, just to come down and land on top of me.

Looking around until you find the airborne dog (guy could just as well have gone anywhere else), then trying to move around in a way that prevents the dog from getting you upon return, is often not possible.

I also wonder if it’s an animation thing, since the assassins basically just skittered around so they didn’t need a lot of animations to show them ‘moving,’ but the dogs have their gallop or whatever you want to call it, and I think trying to sync that with their pathing is making everything borked.

Or it could be there’s a gummy bear stuck in a server somewhere. Who knows?

The launching into the stratosphere is pretty funny… But the clipping through objects, on-a-dime direction changes, and high health are not.

On death, sure, agreed it’s pretty funny, but not when it’s still active and pounces you like a L4D hunter with a high-angle bonus

While the dogs need some fine tuning, I would not agree in removing them until such a fix could be implemented. Mainly that we have no way of knowing how long said fix would take… or that it would infact fix anything at all. Lastly, I find it amusing to see dogs bounce of players and fly up in the air… and then descend upon their unsuspecting victims.

To the ones claiming dogs are fine: tell me with a straight face that this is fine!
Before some genius claims that I dodged too early, dodging any later doesn’t work either. It really just seems like you cannot dodge them early enough.

It’s by no means the most egregious example but you can clearly see how early I tried to dodge only to have the dog then teleport 2m to the left to land on me anyways. Seeing something like this in VT2 is outright impossible. I got 1500+ hours logged in VT2 and have never seen an assassin pull the same stunt or something close to it.

This was recorded today so you can infer how often this happens.

Would be great if it worked consistently. So far it only works consistently in the psykhanium

This I do agree with. It’s always fun to watch them ragdoll off into the sunset.

um you just posted a video of dogs working as intended and you getting pounced.

  1. you could have shot the dog if you had ammo and would have been fine
  2. as soon as you saw the dog could have pulled out your melee weapon and pushed it.

people who tell you to dodge dogs are wrong. dogs are meant to be pushed or shot not dodged. anyone who trys to dodge dogs is doing it wrong and will get pounced on most of the time.

He posted a video of him dodging a dog and still getting pounced. Maybe not the best example since it does look like the dog still clipped him, but dodging and still getting pounced when you are clearly out of the way is super common.

As for “dogs aren’t supposed to be dodged”, that’s ridiculous. You can totally dodge dogs and it often works, which is why it’s so jarring when you clearly got out of the way and still got pinned at your post-dodge location anyway.

you know what works 100% of the time? pushing the dogs or shooting them with a gun that staggers them. feel free to bet your life on a dodge but im sticking with the 2 that work. dodge mutants/trappers, block push dogs. thats been the gameflow since day one. if you cant handle it i guess you just have to cry for more nerfs

I usually go with shooting them, myself. Even if pushing does work 100% of the time (it doesn’t), that doesn’t mean they’re not buggy as hell otherwise. As long as they’re teleporting onto you despite clearly missing you, there’s a problem.

I had zero problems reliably dodging assassins in V2 and there’s no reason that shouldn’t also be the case here.

yea because they are the same exact game and everything should be exactly the same?

If it works sometimes, it should work all of the time.

no. the times it works is because

  1. your timing is flawless and you used the slide dodge underneath the dog
  2. your ping doesnt suck

if you expect to magically avoid every dog just cus you pressed the dodge button then clearly your just looking to make the game easier and thats a you problem not a game problem

Bro literally every other attack in the game can be dodged consistently. Dogs can’t. There’s obviously a problem there. Nobody has problems dodging trappers or mutants. It’s just dogs.

Look past your mad gamer skills for a moment and accept that a thing is broken and that the game would be better if it was fixed.

dogs are the one thing that require people to not just mindlessly dodge to properly avoid it. taking that away would NOT be better for the game. maybe it would let you personally do better in games but its definitely not better for the game. having to actively do something other then dodge really allows for good gameflow and skill expression that you clearly dont have. begging to nerf dogs is just a bad look

Ok bro, you win. If your entire argument is “you suck”, there’s no point continuing here.
