Burning Intensity does not affect DoT tick rate

Issue Type (Required):

Player Mechanics

Issue Description (Required):

The Burning Intensity stat accompanied with the damage stat does not seem to affect DoT tick rate.
The lack of a difference is easy to observe when comparing a 0% damage inferno staff to another with 80% damage.

In both tests, both staves ticked 9 times in 6.1 seconds.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

  • Use Inferno or Flamer

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

The stat does affect the application rate, the differences are simply too small to be perceivable. 80% Burn stat means that stacks are applied every 0.3375s (or every ~21 frames); a 50% Burn stat means that stacks are applied every 0.375s (or every ~23 frames).

Yes, but I’m talking about Burning Intensity under the Damage stat, different from the Burn stat.

Oh, I see. That part of the Damage stat modifies the damage timings of the flame direct hits (flamer_ramp_up_times) which is separate from the DoT application timings.

This is like the only proper response any time kuli knowledge is dropped. Takes tons of effort not to kill the messenger.
