There appears to be two bugs with this tome. I had a slayer on my team who was unable to pick it up, he thinks it might be because the dwarf is shorter and his camera doesn’t reach high enough. Secondly when I picked up the tome my healthkit got stuck on the roof of the carriage and no one else could pick it up.

I have the same problem with Bardin all the time. It’s not really a bug but, as your Slayer says, because of Bardin’s shorter height the, window to see/get the crosshair over the tome is extremely narrow.
I’ve only have 1 instance where a medkit was placed in that spot after someone picked up the tome, but I wasn’t able to pick up it afterwards. So I tentatively corroborate that claim.
