I’ve just tested this in the meat grinder with a borovian and actually yes I think it is worth it in an environment with lots of armoured elites.
On average it took 1 light swing less to kill a crusher than without the node active. This was including full stacks of all talents (heavy hitter etc) for all testing.
That extra swing/damage could be pretty useful in havoc!
Just reporting back
I can’t test it against payback etc though as enemies don’t attack in the meat grinder.
If this is the DR while stamina is >75% it’s been my jam with the new Slam (stamina on kill) because the uptime is amazing and works vs everything rather than just the adjacent melee (which is still an amazing perk).
Give it a go I reckon!
That’s awesome thanks so much homie! That’s more or less the situation I feel like it would shine in so that’s nice to hear it checks out. I shoulda ran it for rotten armour (I’m not so into havoc)!!
If they adjust the lockout time of the Paul they will probably remove the boss knockback it does.
I mean Branx, that is one of my favorite ogg melees. I pretty much just cycle between Branx, Bull Butcher 3 and Standard Issue Poo Scoop when I ogg.
And Branx special is a lot better than the pull because a) it does actual damage (not much but it can kill all trash in one hit with buffs, along with weaker specials like bombers or dogs) and b) it hits 7 enemies. All picks have pretty slow move combos, but can cancel L1 and push attack pretty fast with special. You can throw out the special attack almost at the same time the push attack sweep connects, you can actually cut it off if you do it too fast. This throws the entire ‘slowness’ to the Branx out the window and lets it dominate crowds and hard targets harder than the other picks. Work push attack specials into your moveset, watch your average DPS climb significantly. The Branx special also does the same Pull debuff status (+10% damage from all sources for 5s) but it can apply it to 7 enemies instead of 2.
Personally I’d rank the pull special as the absolute weakest special attack ogryn has currently. It doesn’t do crowd control or damage, and its restricted to 2 targets. It looks a lot better than it is because we all remember how glorious the same move was on Saltzpyre’s billhook. But in that game stagger is limited. Ogryn can stagger with every single move in the Branx moveset already, and then also with the bash special. Only it has utility as a fast attack on an otherwise slow weapon.
Feels fitting though, like how they always put the Rippergun magazine backwards when reloading. The ooh shiny button and activation noise temporarily overwhelms their neurons like the apes checking out the obelisk in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
