They jumped off the platform of course from the flamethrower rat. Okay, bots are terrible.
But when I save them after the fight, they IMMEDIATELY jump off the ledge again and again and again. No enemies around. Not even a single one.

I think this particular ledge is a guaranteed death trap, whenever you get helped up you end up falling again behind the same ledge. (Until you die)

It is.
Level designers can identify it by sight surely, it’s a bit down from the first grim location.
They are not jumping off on purpose. If a real player falls of that particular ledge, they will continue to fall off of it after being rescued.
