Bluetooth Headset sound stops when mission starts

We kindly ask that you complete the questions below. With this information, we can add it to our database for investigation.

Issue Description:
I have a Soundcore Life Q30 bluetooth headset connected to my pc. In Windows it is my current audio device (“Soundcore Life Q30 Stereo” in Windows audio settings). Darktide starts normally and has sound and music everywhere until a mission actually starts (after the loading animation), where it cuts out completely. Switching to another device in Windows restores sound to that device but the Bluetooth headset will remain silent.

Switching to the second setting for the Bluetooth headset (“Soundcore Life Q30 Hands-Free AG Audio”) also moves the sound there and to the headset, but there are sound artifacts and tearing, especially when many sounds play at once.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. In Windows, select the bluetooth headset as the audio device. Check it works.
  2. Start Darktide. Note sound still works.
  3. Select a character and go to the mission terminal. Sound should still work.
  4. Start a mission. As soon as the mission starts and the character can be controlled, audio stops.

5: Alt-Tab to windows and select a different audio device (like speakers). Note that audio returns.
6: If the Bluetooth headset has a second option in Windows audio settings, try that as well. If sound returns, continue playing the mission and check for sound tearing or sound artifacts at moments where there is a lot of sound (like a big battle).

I wanted to mention that other games work perfectly fine and I play quite many. Something just seems to happen the moment the mission starts that cuts out all audio to the Bluetooth headset default audio channel.

Thank you for your report. Any chance you could give this (potential) solution a try? Redirecting

That indeed bandaids the issue!
