Backend Rejected the Challenge Response

I have been attempting to load into the game and receiving an error message that says “backend rejected the challenge response.” In doing some research, it appears that this is an issue with the easy anti cheat software. I’ve followed every guide available on how to remedy the issue. I’ve restarted my computer, verified my game files, redownloaded the anti cheat program, changed the “load startup items,” disabled mods, ensured I am on an official server, and even just plain reinstalling the game.

I also attempted to load into the game on a different computer, in case there was something wrong with my steam account, and that worked fine. Something on my computer is causing the issue but I have exhausted all available resources. My operating system is Windows 11.

Sorry to hear this.

The logs do show an EAC-related issue, though no clear cause as to why. You’ve already tried several solutions that I’d suggest in this scenario. Though there are a couple of other things to try:

Please ensure you have appropriate Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions in place for both Vermintide 2 and Easy Anti-Cheat. You’ll need to add the following exceptions:

  • vermintide2.exe in \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe in \Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat

Failing this, it may be worth trying a clean re-installation of Vermintide 2:
