The troll is supposed to be the big bad bruiser that ruins everything, but right now the optimal way to play him is to avoid the heroes entirely and just hit them with your spew attack. That’s just not fun for anyone involved - the Troll player probably wants to bash some skulls in, and the Heroes want to kill a Troll.
I dunno how to fix this, but it needs fixing.

I’ve used a troll offensively multiple times, but if the heroes are bosskillers it can die in seconds. You need to be opportunist with it too.
If it’s any consolation, if it’s just puking from out of bounds it’s not living to its potential.

The troll needs to be buffed substantially. It gets staggered too easily, has too little damage, and it can’t really do much against people with shields. Even just a non-shielded weapon’s guard stance provides near 100% protection. Light attacks should demolish guard stance in just a few hits, heavy attacks should do a crapload of damage through guard and not just send the player flying unless they guard with a shield. Fire bombs and the trollpedo should not be able to stagger it, neither should shout ults or BH ult unless it hits to the head. Buffing the troll in such a way would also force team compositions to bring (more) boss killers or face an almost guaranteed wipe. More shades and less Handmaidens and Waystalkers, more Grail Knights and less Foot Knights and Mercs would be good for the mode over all as it would make the meta more diverse.

I think the main goal of the boss in the mode is to provide opportunities for your allies (not that you don’t have a chance to wipe on your own, if you get to focus on a player or make him fly it’s pretty powerful, especially coupled with the generously hitting puke): as such I’d rather increase its survivability (with 1 downed regeneration state) than with extra power.
That would also bring the experience closer to adventure mode.
No need for bosskillers. Str potions+bombs and you are dead.
- Delete srt. potions from Versus.
- Reduce bomb damage against troll
- Buff his melee atacks
- nerf his puke effectivness or duration
- Buff his melee damage. Right now almost every melee career can just melee you 1 on 1.
Once i was trying to kill AnF Zealot, and he was healing faster then i was damaging him.
They want to add rat ogre in the Versus. With current situation he will be just useless.
I’ve seen as many games decided by a troll as i’ve seen games where it’s been deleted. As everything else in the mode, everything’s down to when and how it’s played.
That’s why I think giving him the regeneration phase will better balance things out providing more opportunities, rather than more powerful play.
Every single carry troll play that i saw was sneaky “artillery trolls” and game was decided by good pukes. If troll player goes to melee against atleast 3active players - it is over for him against any competent team
For Str potions - they only exist to kill a troll. They have no other use.
Regeneration phase will not solve a problem of him being crap in melee. But it will help against burst killing, it is true.
But there is another problem - why he is regenerating enemy team can just speedrun through him like in Agaisnt the grain 1st.
Troll can reposition.
It’s true though that some spawns arrive so late they never get to deploy.
I watch tournament Versus right now.
And rule is the same - never go melee agaisnt more then 2 players alive.
