Any idea how to fix it?

Never seen this before. I would suggest you try and verify your steam files first, to make sure eveything is correct there.
Then if that doesn’t help, delete everything in your %appdata%/Roaming/Fatshark/Darktide folder and relaunch the game.

I did all you recommended but it didn’t work.

Sort of looks like some sort of screen effect gone wrong. You could try to turn off various graphics settings and see if anything makes any difference.
Particularly “Lens Quality”, “Bloom”, “Depth Of Field”, “Motion Blur” comes to mind as likely candidates.

I set graphic settings to low and turned off everything including the ones you listed but it didn’t work either.

I have done a windows 11 clean install and it didn’t solve the problem. Before Hotfix 1.0.21 I didn’t have these artifacts. Is there a way to debug so I can try to track the problem or any other help?

The weird thing is that in Operative, Penances and Social they are all normal as you see in the screenshots…

Hi.

Have you tried to turn off DLSS, change to FSR1 or FSR2, or switched around with those settings? Just trying to see if anything in particular other than the “low”, “medium” and “high” presets could affect this.

This is very weird, but as a matter of fact, there is something you could do in order to help troubleshoot this issue. It is a bit involved, I wont lie. You would need to download pix for windows (Download - PIX on Windows). Then enable Pix to be attached to the running instance of the game by editing a settings file in the game. To do this, browse to the “Local Files” for the game, there’s a short cut to do that when right-clicking the game in steam.

This will open up a directory where you will find a bunch of directories. Go into the “bundle” and then “application_settings” directory. In there you will find a file called win32_settings.ini, open that in a text editor, and under the section named “renderer = { … }” you need to add the line:

pix = true

somewhere.
If you do this, and install pix for windows, the next time you launch the game it will launch with a little white text in the upper-left corner of the screen indicating that PIX is running and waiting for attachments.

When you open the PIX application, there will be three tabs “Launch UWP”, “Launch Win32” and “Attach”, goto the “Attach” tab, and find “Darktide.exe” in the list of applications, then hit “Attach”, and make sure that “For GPU Capture” is checked.

Now, if everything was done correctly, you should be attached, and the big green “GPU Capture” button will be available in Pix. So once the artefacts are present on screen, you can press that button, or hit F11 in game, and the game will freeze for a little while and then a capture will show up in PIX.

You can click on this capture to open it up, and then you can click on the little green House-icon in the top left to bring up a menu where you can choose “Save As” to save this capture somewhere to disk. The file will probably be pretty large, depending on the resolution you run in. So if you can reproduce the artefact in any resolution, and in windowed mode, it’s preffered to set as low resolution as possible beforehand.

Once the file have been saved, it can be compressed with zip, and then shared with me somehow. I don’t think it will be possible to upload it to this message board due to the size. So I’m not sure how it could be best shared. Perhaps there’s some free filesharing service somewhere, where it could be dropped. Or using a google drive or something.

Oh, and don’t forget to remove that line with pix = true from the settings file once this is done, otherwise it will severly affect the performance.

Hello.

Yes, I have tried but no luck.

I will download pix and follow your instructions to figure out what is happening… I’m working on it right now and send the files asap.

I appreciate your time and support in this case.
