Are You Serious?

I made them up for dramatic effect.

The point stands.
If you want to offer a lot of options, you need a lot of players/customers. Otherwise, it is not viable.
Full customization of public lobbies would require many more players to be viable.

That could only temporarily solve the problem for a few specific conditions at a time.

Except that is not what the options would be.
Experience in other games shows, it can easily happen that players cycle through a lobby for a long time, without the lobby ever filling completely.

Also, it is unrealistic to claim that people just sit around and do not play at all, while waiting for their favorite combination of conditions.
Maybe some people would do that, but most people just play their favorite one out of the options that are available.

So you also expect that the less popular conditions would die out?

server browsers let players organize by player count, quickly find games with players in them. party finder exists. quickplay exists.
lobbies will fill.

They probably don’t cause options are very binary - you either play things you don’t like much or don’t play at all.

However i suppose people can go alt tab or quit when conditions rotation isn’t in their favour.

Yes, just like The Orthrus offensive did, there is no motivation to replay that map. If some condition/secondary objective will be not fun or reward efficient, etc. 99% of players will stop playing it naturaly. And when they will almost or fully die out we can say there is something wrong with them.

We already can say that about tomes and grims for example, cause there is an option to ignore them, and people do. But it’s harder to judge about conditions. Who knows how gas or lights out are popular.

could be, or just possibly it was actually an active decision to not do it ? i dunno maybe you actually do think its beyond them to code that but the possibility they have deliberately chosen to not do that seems a bit more likely to me.

maybe they saw the way it worked in those games . just a thought.

millions must know about fatshark’s retention team

“Oh boy, I can’t wait to hop on Darktide and play some fun and wacky Auric Maelstroms!!”

COMPLETELY UNMODIFIED MISSION

Even if I pretend that I like all of the garbage modifiers that always seem to be in rotation instead of the fun modifiers I still can’t win, can I? Every day that goes by without me being able to select what I want to play is a day I get just a little bit more fed up of this game. I really love getting home, logging on, and realizing that nothing fun is on the mission board.

Lobby browser FTW

Most players will still quickplay out of habit or bonus resource incentive.

Players who are particular about match configuration will be able to choose.

Players from low player count regions will be able to see what people are playing, and tailor build/expectations accordingly.

I just don’t play if it’s a combination of maps/conditions that I don’t care for.

As for conditions, assuming the ability to select mission and difficulty, I propose the map being split into the locations (Metalfab, Chasm Station, Hourglass, etc.) and conditions are applied to all missions in those locations and those are random and cycle on a timer, with the auric board instead being a map of guaranteed high-int conditions.

The mission board is still the last thing in this game that remains that really annoys me. The rest have been addressed and I’m having a blast again.

I know people are clamoring for new content instead of yet another rework, and I agree, but it would be really nice to just be able to play what I want when I want.

When I’m with friends, we run out of steam so quick if it’s the same map pool that we had when we played last. Or, how some of my friends still to this day have never seen a lights out. How are we supposed to get penances for some of these conditions if they never show up when we’re around? Are we supposed to live our lives around this game?

Yes. Points to hourly and daily shops, missions on a timer, no hub hotkeys, etc. etc.

It’s what engagement metrics look like.

It can work, or atleast for private games allow me to change all parameters.

Compare tp DRG (deep rock galactic), you have control over mission & Difficulty, yet some people see it as not enough, and use a “Sanctioned mode” to create your whole scenario, even special random events which only existed when the twins was introduced.

the only thing missing is inserting the seed code in DRG cave generation for now, as DRG uses fully random generated maps, but with certain parameters.

I sure want to play consigment yard for the 8th time in one day!!! Surely Rolling Steel is fun guys!!!
