Our smoke / chemical grenades should extinguish fire and clear pox gas. That gives them much more utility than just breaking line of sight.
The penance should also be “break LOS of x ranged enemies” instead of “engulf 2000 enemies in smoke” which is just asking to throw grenades into hordes.
i gotta disagree, under the proper conditions smoke grenades drasticlly reduce risk for the team as a whole and allow the vet’s teammates to deal much more effective damage. but again, with the way people play now, “help others do things” is not a useful way to fill a grande slot.
yes and no. Yes as a smoke grenade but no in term of gameplay.
I like the idea of the smoke grenade, but I dislike how they are inefficient except to block my line of sight.
Smoke needs to let us see enemies and need to be able to block totally the line of sight of enemies. The smoke area should be more important.
Imho give them two modifier nodes:
One deals damage to enemies within the cloud radius.
The other restores Toughness to allies within the cloud radius.
I honestly can’t say I’ve ever noticed smoke grenades help make anything easier, though that might be because, as you said, vet grenades are more “cover your ass” rather than “win more”.
A friend of mine made an exec stance build that uses smokes to keep disablers from targeting him, and it works surprisingly well, so maybe I haven’t experimented enough with them - but the utility of shredder frags is so insanely good I miss them when I don’t have them.
honestly this would be great change knowing that other classes dont have much of armor-piercing options as veteran does, also giving players an alternative to deal with flak/carapace armor hordes instead of dealing with each carapace armor elite individually
if i understand game’s logic correctly, brittleness also makes enemy stagger more easily, giving blessings with effects such as “Impact” multiplied effect on said enemies
I really think the visibility reduction is enough detriment alone to just never use them. Just making it so that you can see stuff more clearly in the smoke would go a long way to make them feel better to use.
Something so specific in its effect should really not have any downsides. Especially if we consider that vet already gets 2 really good grenades that smoke has to compete against.
