Many such cases.
TLDR; Having someone help you is much better. Send me a message if you would like any help getting this one, and I can send you my in-game friend code. This applies to anyone here really, I enjoy helping with this penance
Earlier I gave some advice on a map/spot that I did my penance on, but I recently helped someone with this yesterday and found this also worked well, if you have someone helping you. I found that even on Damnation/Auric, sometimes there just weren’t enough enemies in a horde for whatever reason (bots/people killing things, too many specials, etc…), so what I did was…
-
I loaded up a Damnation (Optional: Auric/High Intensity) mission. Try to avoid “High Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet”, you don’t want specials ruining things. You want a higher difficulty though, because more enemies.
-
As the Ogryn, take the Battle Maul & Slab Shield as your melee weapon so you can block everything and wait for enemies to pile up.
-
As a note, if a High Difficulty like Damnation or Auric sounds scary - remember this - all you need to do is bowl over 60 enemies. After that, the penance unlocks, and you can just die.
-
Map doesn’t matter too much. I’ve done this penance several times now on various maps in various places. The map I most recently helped someone get this on was “Consignment Yard” - right at the beginning.
-
I made sure my game was Private, and took myself, an Ogryn, and someone else who joined in, + a bot.
-
I pinged a choke-point for the Ogryn to hold up at the beginning of the “Consignment Yard” map where he stayed (it was near the doorway after you walk down the first flights of stairs). I then ran ahead, aggroing all the roaming enemies (killing any specials I saw of course) and surviving until I heard the sound of a horde. I then let myself, the other who joined us, and the bot die. The horde + the roaming enemies I aggroed was easily equal to or over 60, and once they reached the remaining surviving Ogryn who was piling them up with his shield, he then barreled through them and got his penance.
Hope this helps!
Somehow it still helped, yet also get some team mates to help corral a horde and then when you get a dense enough horde the charge will be worth it. Best luck occured on the bridge where you gather the two vacuum capsules to activate the bridge. The stairs at the left before the yellow chest gets an insane amount of poxwalkers horde on hi intensity gauntlets to the point that I landed Frenzied Killer with Ogryn using a Frag Bomb and bull rush charge immediately after. That landed me the Aquila Talon trinket :))))
Now if only I could get that karking penance done for taking zero health damage. Every time I played the easiest difficulties somehow I get a health chip damage even when keeping toughness and blocking up. Worse when its hound, corruption, barrel or flame damage too. I want that silly Winged Duty trinket and penance done already too lol
Found something you may like to use for the penance! Apparently Ogryn Players with the Bull Rush Charge are going for the “Brute Conscripts” modifier condition to get the penance
Yep, I also got Heavy Weight Champion on brute conscripts by simply playing the game. It’s super helpful to your team as well.
So rad, and I am proud to have Master Of War on all 4 classes
Only insane penance for me has been take no health damage, since I always suffer that one chip that takes me from “200” to “199” on Vet and Zealot
Additionally more frustrating because wading through a mission blocking the whole time even on the lowest difficulty allowed is also a difficult method lol
The best use of the modifier, whilst it’s live, is farming reapers. They’re so damn rare outside of this modifier so once it’s gone it’ll take ages to farm.
