Another Power Sword post…

Talk about nerfing PS on this forum and people are going to jump down your throat haha. If power cycler was gone and you were limited to one powerful swing I’d want to see truly unlimited cleave/cleave damage like before the reduction to 9 to 12 targets or whatever it is now.

Buff nerf remove revert its all BS

Game needs content not balance.

I sometimes feel like I don’t deal enough damage with the slab and maul. IDK maybe it’s my hit placement. It’s what I tend to run with though because it makes dealing with demonhost easier.

I beg to differ. do I run the power sword? sure. More often than not though I run the knife, because I have bleed on it and the perk for grenade bleed.

Thread title should be

Another pointless power sword post…

I suspect it’s just a troll.

Games dead right now since they “fixed” mutants and dogs and made damnation+ a walk in the park.

Taking a break has made me see its better to just leave this game until they add more content to it. They are blue balling everyone who’s still left. how long have we been waiting for more levels missions classes etc?

So go ahead break down the pros and cons of various weapons and skills your wasting your time.

If you would have said that Ogryn could tank most things in melee, I’d agreed with you. The reach, cleave and stagger makes it hard for most enemies to approach. But Ogryn cannot just move around without using dodge, slide or finding cover against ranged units so “facetank” is out of the question against then.

Claiming that they should do less damage because of this seems that you are ignoring the strengths of the other classes to compare them to the Ogryn because they can take a few more hits before going down when what you should be doing is preventing the damage in the first place.

By facetanking, i actually mean that you can get hit all the time without problem, since you can regen your toughness insanely quickly (although you can just avoid getting hit pretty well).

Against ranged enemies, you can close the gap with your ult and then slap them around, regenerating so much toughness that the ones that are still shooting at you, can barely scratch you.
Same thing if you have a horde, while ranged units shoot you. You can simply out-regen them. Good luck doing that with any other class.

Why does the ogryn have multiple sources of damage resistances, a massive health pool and can regenerate insane amounts of toughness while in melee?
I think it is pretty clear that these things are there for you to be able to take a lot more hits than the other classes.

When a class has a massive defensive edge that allows you to play with much lower skill, it would only be fair and balanced, if it had a weaker damage output in comparison to the less tanky classes that are far less forgiving (tank vs glass cannon).

Yes, by moving any engagement to melee an Ogryn with not feel threaten by most things. The amount and which type of ranged unit is shooting you is key however on what you can survive, and ideally you should not have any enemies shooting at you while you fight in melee.

Does this defensive edge also apply to veterans with the most toughness, ways to regain toughness on ranged kills, taking reduced damage while using their ultimate and also extending it’s time? All classes has something that gives them an defensive edge for surviving, be it built into the class, by a feat or even by some weapons and their blessings.

I out right didn’t like how power sword feels to play even before the nerf but that’s just me.

I would make power cycler charge the sword up every 5-4.5-4-3.5 seconds.
Since there’s no down like chain/force weapons side why not.

I would like a power sword that’s got a overheating mechanic like the plasma gun that you got to vent or it over heats and turns off till you fully vent it out.

Pc needs to be lowered at +1 swing and not +2 as actually.
And base swing"s" need to stay at 1.

At 2 swings, as a total, the PC should be nerfed enough.

If they could add a delay, I would:

  • increase base swing to 2
  • PC would remain at +2
  • After the sword would loose its energy effect, you would have a countdown of 3 seconds before being able to use again the special

But what I describe here would be a huge nerf…

I agree… and not weapons.
We need new maps, new missions…

Na what I ment was your sword just instantly charges on every few seconds.
I don’t even like the trigger on with power swords since you just constantly want to spam it instead of just using it for certain situations

Putting Deimos into the same sentence as “low” is more than just stretching it. It is the best melee weapon in the game right now.

Not comparing the PS to axes is also doing no good at all. Why are people running Axes instead of PS on Damnation(+)? Easy. The PS kills you whenever a Vet is under pressure, because of the less than favorable defensive and mobility stats. Iam sure its great, or even OP, on difficulties that value survivability less than a psykers existence, but the higher you get, the more often you find yourself in situations where the team cant rescue your sorry backside 24/7. You want something that does enable you to get out alive and deal well with the threat you are facing.

PowerSword is a win harder weapon. If something gets nerfed it should not be the damage. Reduce an effective dodge. Lower stamina. Dont try to press it into an already overcrowded corner.

That being said, I would do neither. The only times I think about bringing a Power Sword is on the Station Assassination mission. The extra killing power is, in my experience, not worth the lack of survivability otherwise.

Give Powersword the Illisi treatment.

  • Make it have infinite dodges with better dodge distance than currently.
  • Double (or Triple) Crit/Weakspot multipliers.
  • Activation should have 0 slowdowns and be usable while sprinting.
  • Increase the attack speed of all attacks slightly.
  • Nerf Cycler to only +1 so it still stays a unique weapon (while force swords can have deflector)

I would run that. The vet doesn’t even have the +30-40% damage boost the psyker has so having a bit more base damage isn’t an issue either.

this is not correct, from my own experience. i got power cycler on a blue, and two more T4 blessings i did not want while hunting for it.

Somebody get this man an audience with the devs

Nah, keep the power sword unique.

Permanent activation, same damage as it is currently when unpowered, same mobility, deals flat damage unmodified by armour types, high cleave, little to no stagger.

It then becomes a can opener that can deal with hordes (not perfectly because of the lack of stagger), so you still need to be careful how you use it because of the relatively lower mobility.
