Cause it’s a dead mode that brings 0 replability. Just like Orthus did.
Something similar to Twitch mode from V2 where you can crunch up sliders and modify enemy stats and spawns would have been x10 better.
It’s also anticlimactic for an ACTION COMBAT game. Challenge should come from harder enemy mechanics, mutators that motivates to learn combat, movement, enemy attack timings, improving reaction, aim and tracking, etc.
Instead Havoc is pushing game towards narrow “move fast” meta. What is this a racing game? Wasted time, wasted opportunity.
there are godlike players for sure, both worthy serving as inspiration and entertainment.
then again pvp a) asks for a different skill-set apart from mechanical perfection (which can be achieved in both pve and pvp)
and b) people make mistake and can be “broken/tilted”
not gonna say a.i is “better” only that it doesnt make mistakes and pushes you relentlessly.
been out of the game since 2005, but in my days i had a hunch when i broke my opponent, forced him out of his tactics and comfort zone and could cash in on him losing his cool, even if he was the mechanically superior player.
that was at the peak of my reflexes though (watching old demos i’m always nostalgic for those 180° twitches that came for granted)
of course i had matches i couldnt win from the get go, the gap was huge and at the end we always ended on a friendly note and i took home a good training session.
pve is pattern+reflexes
pvp is mindgame+reflexes
still the “ceiling” is there and the 1% as far from the casual player as mr olympia from your gym folk
bonus-note: i wager zeromaster (doom eternal player doing awesome stuff) could smoke 90% pvp populace by mechanical superiority alone.
Aren’t you the guy who wants to be good at this game so badly he uploads videos of himself running through empty maps and says it’s the same as killing every enemy you see?
Well havoc was designed for them, so casual players could play and have fun in the normal board, good players could play and have fun in auric, and the best can play and have fun in havoc, that was the point
Its literally a side mode in the grander scale of the game, you quite literally dont have to play it, which a lot of people dont like to hear because they want to do it, and they get upset when they are unable to (general statement, not directed at you or anyone here)
The game itself should not, is not, and will not be balanced around havoc for the very reason that havoc exists, to be for the best players, which is not a lot. Anything that is havoc specific that needs to be balanced, its up to the mode itself to do that, not the wider game (though lots of balance issues in havoc currently are just exacerbated versions of ones that exist gamewide)
Am I one of those with over 3000 hours played, True Survivor, and a rank of 40 in the first weeks?
If I am one of them, Fatshark should definately not balance around “us”.
You should never waste precious development time on a game mode for 1-10% of players. That is poor business.
If you truly are that good and want a greater challenge, play competitive games against other people (and stop using overpowered meta builds and abuse mods like SpiderSense).
i play this game with dorn from time to time, in pub lobbies we rarely lose outside of havoc. just how it is, im not going off of his videos at all. but what i have seen for myself in game with him and watching him play through discord streams
the fact that a quite sizable number of people also have gotten to 40 and true survivor in the first few weeks is already proof enough that the mode failed to do what it intended to do, which was be an incredibly daunting challenge to hit the top for everyone, even the best of players.
speaking of the climb to the top, havoc explicitly starts at malice at rank 1-10 and heresy at 11-20, so the wider player base also gets to get a taste of it and the exclusive mutators generally around where their skill level resides, so the entirety of the mode wasn’t designed exclusively for the top players, they have the tip of the havoc mountain for them, which is where most of the public eye, and thus discussion, resides
and saying “play another game” when we’re talking about a game with one of the most unique combat systems that no other game gets close to having, let alone any competitive games. we’re here cuz we like the gameplay of this game, so telling people to play something else when they want to play a version of the gameplay only found in this game thats challenging for them is just a confusing argument to make
Fine, but I’m not sure if it’s necessary to segregate the small playerbase (small because of Fatshark fumbling) into multiple game modes, as is one of the results of focusing on the top percentage.
I’m not sure what server you play on; I play on EU, but I occasionally join friends on other servers, and some of them are utterly empty, and we’ve had trouble filling teams on Auric Maelstrom and Havoc even here on EU at times.
Personally (just personal opinion), I’ve always believed that Fatshark should have focused more on Auric Maelstrom and improved upon it rather than creating yet another game mode (Havoc), which will soon be replaced by yet another one.
Special assignments are already considered dead content.
Will Havoc become the next dead game mode?
There is no powerhouse like EA, Ubisoft (lol), Valve, or any other major company behind Darktide, and every lnon-replayable content dump Fatshark releases wastes precious months (years (crafting)) of time that could have been spent doing something else.
That is what bothers me (personally) about Havoc: we could have had something fun instead, like Chaos Wastes, or why not something completely new and original for Darktide rather than rehashing stuff (the new content is yet another Vermintide rehash), (though I’d love it if they could bring over Kerillian’s staff and dual wield rapier + pistol) from Vermintide.
This is just my opinions; you do not have to agree with me.
I beat Havoc 40 in two days with randoms, i guess i’m atleast ok at this game. I would rather trade Havoc for Twitch mode from V2.
They just should reimagine it and add tones of sliders you can crunch up to modify difficulty as you want. So 0,000004% of players could run x5 enemy HP and damage, x4 spawns, x10 bosses, x2 longer ability cooldown, etc.
Like there is always gonna be a minority that can perform insane stuff, it will be a neverending demand for a new difficulty. So some type of difficulty constructor mode can solve it better, than adding auric maelstrom II, III, etc.
I would trade Havoc just for the new enemies, maps in new biomes and new weapons, even tho i can play auric maelstroms on autopilot half sleeping i would rather have new actual content, than Havoc. It would bring more replayibility just cause of novelty feeling.
On top of that, they could make an enemies overhaul, giving them new abilities. It’s not a crazy thing when live service games bring core mechanics overhauls and transform games into v2.0.
@FatsharkStrawHat Energy matrix HL-17-36. Of course I understand everything, and I don’t care about the books, but the other players do. Specifically this one can not raise, before the patch is 2 weeks, good luck. And I remind you about the extra 4 points of skill in the electric staff.
I think you might as well just permanently retire if you are actually anticipating solo mode. It is never going to happen. Fatshark has just way too many other fundamental issues with this game that they need to take care of before they allocate resources to solo mode. Moreover, it’s Fatshark we are talking about here. How dare you expect them to meet the customers feedback and wishes within a healthy time span.
