[Engine Error]: Access violation (0xc0000005) in build 31127afd8f47ef61b5511fb173770edc88494a41

The crash occurred in module ‘amdxc64’. This module is related to AMD graphics driver. If this is a recurring issue you could try AMD Cleanup Utility tool Drivers and Support for Processors and Graphics to see if that helps.
In addition, I am launching this from the xbox app so any steam fixes, or easy anticheat problems do not apply here
Did you install the latest Windows update? KB5066835 changed some security stuff and other things and in common Microsoft fashion it’s causing a lot of issues.
Yup, looks like it. Classic Microsoft. Should I try to rollback or just simply wait for Microsoft to clean up after itself?
Considering there’s only one known issue listed so far
when I’m seeing articles about them breaking localhost of all things you may as well rollback.
And hope that the changes made to the windows update service itself lets you lol
You might also be able to work around this by disabling RTX Global Illumination!
Rolling back works! I uninstalled the windows update and now darktide doesn’t crash on launch. I did it by going to Settings > Windows Updates > Update History > Uninstall Update. Thank you guys for the help!

i cant uninstall it only the ones from 5 November
same here, how do I go about uninstalling that update when I can’t see it in the uninstall page
It’s not under Windows Update → Update History → Uninstall Updates?
If there’s a security update from later than KB5066835 I think you’ll have to uninstall that later version first? I think you’ll also have to pause updates on the main updates page so it doesn’t install itself again right after.
Admittedly I’m not super knowledgeable about uninstalling this stuff as I usually just wait a week or two to see how bad it’s going to be. It could be dependent on other non-security related updates and if you have 25H2 on top of it I’m not sure how that will affect it.
Yeah so I do have 25H2 installed and there are other cumulative updates that I installed later. I might give backtracking to KB5066825 a go by uninstalling later security updates but yeah as of now I can’t hop on
(and yeah it isn’t under Uninstall updates :/)
Actually another thing I thought of:
Do you have virtualization based security on? A bit over a year ago I turned it on and it fixed a lot of my access violation crashes.
All you need is to turn virtualization on in your bios (labeled SVM for AMD CPUs) and it should be on by default. I’d tell you to check the CPU tab in your task manager to be sure but the latest version of windows will duplicate your task manager in the background if you click X to close it
You can check the device security tab of windows security and see if core isolation is enabled. Click core isolation details and make sure memory integrity is on too.
Although if you already have it on and you’re still crashing then this windows update is just that much more irritating
