I did a little post on toughness dmg reduction for all those that have a hard time understanding the calculation behind it. I hope it helps someone^^

Toughness reduction: it’s good, use it! Ogryn gets lots of it always!
Always play good enough to keep some toughness to get reduction!
Don’t stack wounds, get toughness!
there, saved everyone from having to look at reddit.
if you cannot open a notepad file and you aren’t playing on console i am going to conclude that you simply don’t know how to operate a computer, this is basic literacy and trying to gloss over it all because you don’t understand is extremely rude.
however i think this guide could be simplified quite a bit if someone took the time to write out which perks are additive and which multiplicative (i am lazy), i could probably even chuck it into an excel file so people can calculate exactly how much toughness resist they get
True, that guide could be shorter by atleast 70% if we had a readily available list somewhere with all the modifiers and whether theyre multiplicative or additive.
If that post gets enough engagement maybe I will sit down and do it myself
Saw the wall of text with a scavenger hunt to get to anything remotely useful when my eyes glazed over and my smooth brain just… stopped bothering.
From your reddit post:
Edit: As some some people have pointed out I did a little oopsie with the
calculation. While I pointed out beforehand that one is negatie and one is positive, I forgot to translate that in the equation. So instead of: ((3 * 0.05) + (6 * 0.05)) in the additive part of the equation, it should be (1 - (3 * 0.05) + 1- (6 * 0.05)). I forgot to convert the damage reduction to damage taken modifer in the post. Cross checking my notes I did it there, just forgot to include it in the post, silly me. I really shouldnt do such posts when im sleepy, I hope you can forgive me^^
May i ask why you decided to write the correction as an edit below your wall of text, instead of simply correcting the wrong calculation in the post?
Considering that the topic is clearly about a calculation, i would expect that people tend to look for a calculation, when faced with a long text like that.
I certainly did, and i was about to tell you that your calculation was wrong, until i saw more numbers at the end of your post and read that edit, too.
Also, your correction is still wrong.
The way you calculated it in the correction, you could take more than 100% damage, if you have multiple sources of additively stacking tdr.
I am pretty sure it should be
(1 - (3 * 0.05+6 * 0.05))
Because I dont like changing written stuff. I know some people prefer it as it reduces the length and complexity but me personally I like to have the original still stated and rather do a correction afterwards below it so people can still see the original statement and the change it undervent.
But thinking about it a bit more im gonna edit it as strikethrough, should serve the same purpose
Oh, then you refreshed before I updated. I changed that already before your edit.
Edit: but thanks for pointing it out anyways^^
I think you forgot a set of brackets, when correcting your correction.
Damage Taken = (1 - Nodes + ISNF)
Should be
Damage Taken = (1 - (Nodes + ISNF))
Or not?
shouldnt matter as that is the addditive part
It does matter, because if you leave out those brackets, you could again take more than 100% dmg.
As your calculation stands, ISNF would make you take more damage
Youre right. Funniliy enough I did in the actual numbers part but forgot it in the part before that
Note to myself: I need to proofreed more before posting
Thanks for pointing out my mistakes tho^^
Glad i could help.
For the future, i would suggest you also cut a lot of the fat, and maybe include a TLDR with the actual calculation part at the top of the post.
Good point, I will try to keep that in mind for when/if I do another post^^
