A normal name not accepted

Issue Type (Required):

Character Customisation

Issue Description (Required):

I tried to name my psyker “Sieglinde” which is a relatively normal, if a little outdated real-life name. The game would not let me. It told me that I had to use normal letters and numbers, and only certain symbols or spaces.

As I tried to only use standard English letters to type in a relatively normal name, I am VERY confused as to why I cannot name my character “Sieglinde.”

I’ve attempted to just play the game without it, but over the past couple of days, I have since found it continues to bother me enough that I am officially posting a bug report about it. Because I cannot think that this is anything but a bug.

Steps to Reproduce (Required):

Create new operator, choose psyker, attempt to name them “Sieglinde”

No, I don’t use mods

Reproduction Rate (Required):

Constant (100%)

Platform (Required):

PC - Steam

I’m guessing they filtered Sieg because of Sieg Heil. I also noticed these weird filters, whoever makes the regex for the names is very very overzealous. Reminds me a lot of Dark Souls and the notorious K***hts.

You know, that does make sense, in a rather profoundly dumb way. You would think developers would be able to program a better naming filter system than that. But I suppose not. Either way, I find this unacceptable.

Lol. Try Siegfried, same result?

To be fair, if you had ever been to Scunthorpe you would filter out the whole word.

Hi Torruun, I’ve added the name to our allow list and you should now be able to use it!
