A lot of cosmetics should be made cross-class

I know it’s not really a pressing issue but with the discussion about arbites not getting much penance gear I got to thinking about how much stuff is locked to a single class that doesn’t really need to be.

a LOT of headgear/pants could be used on any class without affecting anything (barring ogryns and pysker collars) and there are definitely a few chest pieces that could be swapped between zealot and veteran without changing anything at all, I doubt anyone is going to notice if the zealot has the cracked and purity seal-d version of an armour set or the clean version in the middle of a fight

it would be nice to have some of the more neutral pieces made equippable to other classes, and would defs help pad out arbites lacking options if stuff like palenite enforcer armour could be equipped to them

the thing is, they sell cosmetics to get money< they will get less money if they will sell less cosmetics (multiclass cosmetics = less money)

Conversely, cosmetics being multiclass would incentivize people, myself included, to buy more of them when they wouldn’t have spent prior. I know I would buy more if I could make my Zealot look like a Guardsman while pimping out my Veteran. I almost bought the red one of that recent bundle that was Vet & Zel helmets.

It’d result in less money for Fatshark, so it’ll not happen.

The workshop might not want guardsmen looking like hobos, etc. I noted in another post that every psyker cosmetic has that collar for example, even when it looks rather clumsy. And I’d like a light guardsman style cap for my psyker.

Also, what @ridjess said above about sales volume.

Not true, I actually prioritize buying backpacks/bionic implants over anything else because of their cross-class availability

But they’re not all guardsmen. We got hive ganger cosmetic sets over a year ago, as well as Rogue Traders (Pirates)

They would sell ton of cosmetics if they added solo game mode and allowed us to play with our characters as bots…

I prefer to recognize a class by their look (cosmetics).

No they shouldn’t. Classes should look distinct. It’s also lore unfriendly.

for the sake of discussion about class recognition/lore i have prepared a quick questionnaire

can you quickly tell me what class each of these headgears belong to

Whose boots are these?

which of these 3 armour sets is the veteran?

Obviously there are a lot of gear pieces that are very distinct to a class but a lot of stuff is already very similar and i don’t think the game is going to explode if i can equip a goofy little tanker hat to another class, and personally I’d be a lot more inclined to buy standalone gear pieces like hats if they work across multiple characters

while i was looking for examples i actually found a hat that is supposedly already available to veteran and zealot already

just thought it was interesting

Right now many helmets used by the Astra Militarum and that Veteran should wear are locked for Zealot and Psyker exclusively though, so isn’t really lore friendly currently.

Now talking more seriously.

I remember that there are A LOT of cotumes “groups” that have different costumes for each class… but they almost look the same.

I don’t like it.

I don’t want Fatshark to make those silly Packs of similar clothes for every class.

And I don’t want cross class cosmetics (with some exceptions maybe).

the first two hats are veteran (the zealot has a version without mask) the last two are zealot flak helm (it has purity seals!) and ogryn helmet, the pants are the psyker krieg pants and the second set of robes are veteran, the flak vest is zealot (purity seals are apparently required for zealot to steal vet armour)

I’m glad you understand what i mean by gear being difficult to distinguish, and I’m not arguing for everything ever made to just be shared, just things where it’s already super similar to another classes stuff, at the very least it would be nice to share pants between classes because for the most part they are the same pants just with or without kneepads and hats that are just bandages/caps/etc
