50% frame rate reduction often when music changes

Issue Description (Required):

Specs

  • NVIDIA 4080 SUPER, no OC
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor 4.20 GHz
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 175hz monitor

Literally ALL settings on MAXIMUM. (EVERYTHING!! =])

I typically get ~100+ fps in the lobby, and 90+ fps in-game, even in the most intense situations. However I have a common, semi-or-completely permanent FPS drop of 50%!!! at seemingly random times that

  • may resolve after 10-15 minutes of gameplay
  • may never resolve including between missions
  • always resolves after restarting the game

It happens almost every single gameplay, and can occur pretty much immediately or at a random time.

HOWEVER! One super interesting thing I’ve noticed is that this often happens the SECOND the game music changes, especially to something fast paced (which might mean a horde is coming, something). It’s definitely happened at other times, or when I have not noticed, but it’s basically every gameplay that maybe 5 minutes goes by and all of the sudden I’m doing to 60fps which is actually unplayable on a 175hz monitor.

This did not used to happen ~4-5 months ago but I don’t have the best information for you.

TLDR: sometimes during gameplay my FPS drops by 50% and may never recover. It very often coincides with music change.

Have you tried disabling the CCD without the 3D V-Cache?

Sometimes windows is dumb with the dual CCD X3D processors and schedules threads on both which can cause cache thrashing…

Do you know if you’re CPU limited or GPU limited when the performance drops?

Are you using any screen overlays?
