My first tail to pin the Swagger on was Rannick. You cant hide that personality. The more I listened to Swagger, the more I think why is Rannick hiding his punachable face!?!

The biggest contradiction to this assesment is the mission with Rannick as the Mission Control and Swagger as the in-person agent. They banter. Inter-Zone Void Sector Omega-12 is the snow map/mobien steel production frozen map. Rannick and him have lengthly conversations about who has clearances and the information Swagger knows because “he has one of those faces you can cofide in..”

Does this look like a face you can confide in? I dont think so..

The second biggest contradiction is Swagger has blue eyes and Rannick is brown. Case closed Swagger is not Rannick…or is it?

…If we disregard the damning evidence…

The Biggest support to Rannick being Swagger are their personalities. They both have a lush way of communicating, a sarcastic conveyance of responces, they mention they will “get on famously” with said person they are communicating with. Swagger tells Hadron and Rannick tells Brahams. This quip seems very specific, but also is a common phrase.

Rannick is not Swagger…

Diving deeper, Swagger comes off as toying with those around him, no denying or admitting to any of Hadrons pressing questions, It simply does not concern him. He also has an “old aquintance” with Grendyl that no one else can tie together.

Additionally, Darktide Locked and Loaded introduced Swagger on the Mourninstar

I failed to see if Rannick was looming above while Swagger was below during that time, pestering Hadron, on the mourningstar but Swagger reaallly likes mobien steel, especially when its being produced.

This leads me to the Overall story and Plot of Darktide.

What is on Atoma that Grendyl needs?

Why would Swagger be leading a mission to recover and produce mobien steel and then hover over Hadron while she fidled with it?

The questions lead me to believe its something very close to Grendyl and very specific to his survival.

The only two persons on mourningstar who would have cause to hide their identify whilts on the field of battle are Grendyl and Rannick. Yes, I still have not counted out Rannick, he has the ability to walk. We still have not seen Grendyls true form. I currently am of the thought that he is glued to the ship like the mutated Radical he is.

So … Who is Swagger?

Swagger and Rannick Talk though, and Grendyl is a mechanical corpse tied to the ship relative of the Brahms family… Swagger is probably an Eldari associate.

Grendyl is tied to the ship, i think you ment to say.

Id have to look at Eldari eyes , plus they are long and lanky and tall, I would highly doubt that but that is an interesting take.

Right this is the biggest contradiction to them being the same person, they spend a whole mission bantering. Unless he’s gone completely insane and its literally talking to himself, but after stewing on this topic I dont think FS would throw that big of a wrench into Rannicks character.

Can’t be Rannick as we can see both in the mourning star at the same time (Sw. Near Hadron, Ra.on the bridge)

For Grendyl, it’s not possible atm to say they’re not one and the same, but I get the feeling it isn’t.

I would presume that Swagger is a more ancient operative of Grendyl kind of like the Wyrmwood, or he is a very strange Inquisitor (but a different one)

A different inquisitor is interesting, not be identified is common among inquisitors, plus having 2 on the same planet is not out of the ordinary (think Eisenhorn or Cain (Vail)).

The“old acquaintance” could be investigating Grendyl themselves, seeing how far they have gone (or fallen) to achieve there goals.

This still doesn’t answer why the obsession with mobien steel. I hope they feature Swagger in new missions so their narrative can evolve. They are far more interested in Hadron and Admech than anything else which could point to them being an inquisitor even more, an ancient artifact being researched and telling us rejects it’s nothing more than the collection of Mobien steel…which is partially true….that seems plausible.

A new Swagger candidate has appeared, are they a noble? Would make sense as their clearance on Atoma would be at the highest of levels. Sire Mangolin detesting a Sister is quite the statement. Who would think to bring the fury of an emperor lover faith upon thee?

Thinking back on the introduction of Swagger and where he camp in the ship, I’m starting to wonder if he doesn’t have connections to the Admech specifically:

  • Seeking the True Moebian Steel
  • Seem to understand or know how to make it when in front of the system
  • Stand close to Hadron’s atelier.

Agree, someone with a need of expertise, and swagger has access to most, if not all, of security levels/clearance on atoma. Im leaning towards a noble on the planet.
