Yeah I was thinking maybe Fatshark was overfavoring melee as usual and pure ranged players were complaining but perhaps this is not the case.
I think people are just missing Camo, which I get, I did enjoy it the one or two times I used it, but otherwise I myself gravitate to playing aggressively in close combat (while preferring more ranged than ultimately was in Vermintide)
Like I don’t understand the comment about not having survivability; hordes are craftier now and Shock troop seems to be default but Vet is pretty strong. So maybe it’s Camo
What I see in the clip speaks against it, without further sources you must assume that it is the old patch. And since you can mod everything anyway you have to be super careful anyway what is real.
Ok sure I know the dude who posted that clip and they are 100% legit no question in my mind but I’ll get some more info about it off them at some point.
Veteran pre-patch didn’t even have a build, it was just ‘be carried by volleyfire’. No armor damage in any meaningful feat beyond your actual loadout meant you had ‘axe and psword + whatever’ or ‘whatever + bolter/lucius/plasma’ and everything else was garbage. The unavoidable weakness of stamina regen (which affects dodges and like anything in melee combat that isn’t mashing M1) meant whenever volley fire was not up you were the worst character in the game.
Now you get great mileage on being as fast as a Zealot, while dominating range enemies. I’ve been using the chain axe which was literal insanity mode difficulty unless you were getting carried before on this character, you would be so vulnerable and almost guard-depleted all round just trying to keep hordes at bay.
Agreed. My first try with the new talent trees was the Veteran, with lotsa non-synergistic talents I felt obligated to take on my way to the good ones.
And after switching to Psyker I immediately thought it was so much better lol
If you pick Voice of Command and go down the middle-end path Vet is more survivable than before. It’s not pre-patch Zealot or Ogryn and definitely nowhere near post-patch Zealot or Ogryn, but it’s around the current Psyker level. You also get damage node at the end for Voice of Command.
If you go anywhere else you are paper mache as you said, and with the middle path you aren’t a long-range character anymore. Good luck sniping gunners without Suppression Immunity.
Remember Flawless, YOU were one of the vocal twits here pushing for the P-sword to be “balanced”. Just couldn’t leave something that worked well enough alone could you? Oh no you had to have you precious “balance” without thinking about the future. One of the ones who ignored every warning from people who have been through this stuff before because it wasn’t what YOU wanted. Oh no, you screamed until Fatshark caved and nerfed the hell out of it. And now its useless.
My take on the talent trees is this: It’s great there’s a choice now, sort of, atleast there are options.
I guess there are many paths to take, I would know there was a choice if I’d make an excel out of this stuff to figure out what all the +5% thingies add up to. It’d be really, really great in 2023 when we have had this +2% incremental “character progression” for decades now, if the people making it could do better. Like Cyberpunk did. It simply can not be that hard to let the player easily make meaningful choices to adjust their gameplay without having to rely on external datasheets or stuff like that.
PS. Why is excrement a banned word? This is a game about a Nurgle invasion. Shiiieeeish.
Lol. Is opposite day today?
Who are you talking to?
Show me a post where i am vocal about how the PS should be nerfed.
I really am curious about what i supposedly said.
There is one guy who lies about me, claiming that i am a vet main who only uses the crutch sword and does not want it to be nerfed, because it is my crutch.
And then there is you, who lies about me, claiming that i wanted the weapon to be nerfed.
That’s kind-of my point, what’s there is nowhere near enough even there in terms of survivability AND DPS relative to the other classes. IDM playing on the edge type-sh*t, but they better fix the damn servers already if that’s the end-point.
Even going all in on a survivability and stacking HP/toughness curios still gets me one/two tapped by most high dmg crap at T5 and above. The only thing that often keeps me alive is often tapping F as commando or officer if I’m lucky enough to not just have something straight up teleport behind me like this was an anime.
I wanna know why the extra ammo talent, which used to be one of the most important distinguishing features of the Veteran that made them uniquely suited to focusing on ranged combat over every other class, is now stuck at the very bottom of the snipey headshotty weakspot-hit based tree, where it’s all but inaccessible to commandos and commissars and any build doing any amount of multiclassing outside of dedicated sharpshooter, when focusing on headshots is how you spend less ammo, not to mention it’s the skill tree favored by long range high damage guns which tend to have pretty solid ammo efficiency. If I want my autopistol to have a solid stock of ammunition I need to put like an extra five points into the tree of Bonus Weakpoint Damage. Just how many weakspot hits do you think I’m getting with the autopistol? Meanwhile, the MG XIII infantry lasgun has never run out of ammo in the history of the Imperium.
