We’ve ended up with a Veteran talent tree that provides a suitably rigid layout with three clear lanes.

That is; They know. It’s what they intended.

We have tuned the tree to allow for flexibility, where zig-zagging across the different lanes is not just an option but encouraged.

This is just straight up wrong. They’ve done the exact opposite.

I think vet is intended to be more rigid as the “newbie” class. My zealot build has stuff all over the place. Likewise even my vet build had a different blitz and several random talents.
